A product of the Academy at Blackburn "Jay", as he's better known, came through the ranks at Ewood Park with loan spells at Burnley, Gillingham and Ipswich before finally establishing himself in the first team.

His development has been disrupted by knee injuries - he suffered a dislocated kneecap whilst on loan at Burnley while still 18 and suffered a further knee ligament injury in November 2005 whilst on loan at Ipswich, which ended his season prematurely but fortunately, he's been able to make a complete recovery.

Jay can play in the center of defence but is arguably more at home at wingback.
