The writing process. I had four words in my head. They were Nova Scotia and Coca Cola. Not sure where they came from, just landed there. The three parts were written in around 20 minutes yesterday and this morning collectively and with around half a dozen slight changes. Not sure if it will go anywhere, but should it be of interest to a recording artist we would likely have to change Coca to Cherry or something else as ( unless the laws have changed ) you can't use a brand / product in a song. IE. Lola by The Kinks. Coca Cola was changed to Cherry Cola. It's interesting that many lyrics are written as virtually automatic writing and often are completed in very quick time. I spoke to an established British recording artist yesterday who has been working on the words to some songs ( an entire concept album ) for over a year. It's a matter of fine tuning to get all the pieces to fit. But not just that. When some words are sung they don't fit the sound patterns required and need refining. It's also interesting ( to me anyway ) how lyrics that are recorded are sometimes slightly different to what appears in the printed ( and materially agreed lyrics blueprint ) that you might read in a CD booklet for instance - and some artists don't realise this until it is pointed out. Spoke to someone who attended this match and it was effectively a Colchester United Academy side. It would appear there are a few concerns behind the scenes at The Jobserve - not least the state of the pitch! With the rainfall in Colchester this afternoon let's hope it is covered. I do sense the club is at something of a crossroads currently. |

Project Iron Maiden. Relayed the origin of using Fire on stage to the Director of the upcoming film about the beginnings of the band. It may have been prompted by a rep who demonstrated a fire extinguisher in our studio in the summer of '77 which didn't work! I ended up in Middlesex Hospital with burns from another 'trial run' and one of the fingernails on my left hand hasn't grown properly to this day. We may include that in the production. Some of the research on this project began 10 years ago and the telephone conversations we are sharing to put this thing together really trigger memory. 🙂🙂🫠🫠|

Yet another one of those 'interim' Management situations going on over at M&T with Liam Bailey back yet again for another shift - until the end of the season? My mole is in the Southern Hemisphere and l wonder what he will make of this. I also wonder how the negotiations are panning out? Has there been a rethink? 🙃🙂🙃🙂🙃🙂 |

The Colchester United Under 21's recent friendly match at Stanway also went under the radar - Stanway won 7 - 0. |

Robbie Cowling will be involved in all stages of the proposed takeover of Maldon and Tiptree as he owns the stadium and the land that is currently being negotiated with Drewitt Barlow. He will likely be dealing with the aspect of selling the club ( separate from stadium / land ) on behalf of ( or with ) his brother Richard Cowling too. From past experience l have seen people go into sell mode after years of buying and wouldn't be surprised if Robbie Cowling considers the sale of Colchester United. The word is that the club could be up for sale to the right buyer. He was approached by someone who he may not have considered to be the right buyer and that individual settled for the purchase of Eastbourne Borough in The National South. Swindon Town told me they were up for sale a few months ago and that they thought the same applied to Colchester United. |

Just listened to Danny Cowley speaking about the recruitment process in the transfer window. It went on for quite a while and l got the impression that there might be a few problems behind the scenes. As l key this in he is back on BBC Essex and giving more insight into the process of bringing players in - a difficult task it would seem. I am very interested in the proposed acquisition of Maldon and Tiptree F.C. as l feel this might impact on the future of Colchester United. I sense changes on the horizon. David Gregory is also feeling the need to explain the predicament that the club appears to be in. |

Wonders of the modern world. Illustration from artist based in New York arrives 11pm on Sunday night as PDF. Printed it in Colchester yesterday morning. Printed text from 'Chloe James' onto coloured paper yesterday. Produced an A3 collage assembly of text / image / coloured stickers last night. Printed the collage 11.15am this morning. It's on display in the art / poster shop in Red Lion Walk, Colchester by 11.30am. That's around 36 hours from zero product into physical retail that might be a world record???? |

How 'Voice in the Sky' evolved. About two weeks ago l was on an early morning dog walk. About 100 yards in front of me was a lady dog walker walking into a headwind on a freezing cold trek across King's Head Meadow in Colchester. The words 'Windswept, Forlorn, Headwind and Storm' imprinted themselves in my head immediately. The voice element idea was stolen from a television commercial and the 'Three Black Stallions' from a film clip the same day. It's a bit like a Spanish omelette with the ingredients thrown together and sometimes the result is worth sharing ( though not always 🙃 ). |

'Pablo's Song' Revised lyrics of 'Silent Night' - sung as a lullaby by 'Chelsea' for Pablo - the Inflatable Polar bear. Silent night, holy night All is calm, all is bright Pablo the polar bear In from the wild Holy creature So tender and mild Sleep in heavenly peace Sleep in heavenly peace Silent night, holy night Shepherds quake at the sight Glories scream from heaven afar Lovely Pablo, my polar bear My gentle saviour reborn My gentle saviour reborn ( Pablo's eyes close as he slowly drops down on dog bedding and falls asleep with a smile on his face, Chelsea blows Pablo a kiss, softly closes the garage door, and creeps back upstairs ). We are clearing a large quantity of Colchester United material that includes many items from the production of the 'Made in Colchester' DVD. There is also the very first sample shirt that was presented to Graphic Warehouse in the Conference winning season ( no logo on that! ), and large digital images that were used as a backdrop in the 'underground' sequence etc. This will all be available in a forthcoming Collectors Auction at Reeman Dansie in about six weeks time. There are also items from the 'Boy's of '92' celebration night at Colchester Town Hall that we worked on in association with Green Square and Cloud ( formerly Cloud FM ). |

For The Inflatable Polar Bear followers l have devised a little sketch in the form of draft text copy for a television commercial. The little girl who lives at the home of 'Pablo' ( that's the name she devised for him ) wishes it was still Christmas. She sneaks down the stairs at midnight and enters the garage through the side door by the stairs. She gets Pablo out of the cardboard box and reinflates him. Pablo comes back to life with a smile on his face. 'Chelsea' sits beside Pablo and softly sings Silent Night ( with revised lyrics to dedicate the lullaby to Pablo ). Pablo rocks from side to side. Chelsea kisses him goodnight and now Pablo has come back to life and can plan for the spring time. TBC. [Post edited 16 Jan 23:01]

Some folk have taken a liking to The Yuletide Premiership that l invented as a Christmas mini series after walking past a delightful inflatable polar bear in Smithies Avenue in Colchester in mid December. Each evening when l passed him on a dog walk l just had to stop for a moment and watch his slow sideways movements from left to right as he glanced around at the Christmas lights and other inflatable creatures in a magical world. It was really lovely and l expect he is tucked away in a cardboard box now in the garage and looking forward to next December. I wondered what he will do now he can't play in midfield for The Inflatable Polar Bears. I have invented a little story in my head as to what he might be getting up to now. TBC. |

I have purchased some vinyl records that were actually played by Alan Freeman on a Saturday afternoon back around 1975 from the BBC Archive. It's really interesting to see the play dates stamped onto a sticker on the albums. The Rare Bird debut album was among the batch and is one of my all time favourites - also 'Garden Shed' by England! I'm still allowing the 'Tigers at Layer Road' thread a bit more time to settle as there are quite a few people catching up with it in the US. 🙃🙂🙃🙂 |

Discovered the contact sheets for the photo promo shoot by Zacron for the group 'Fancy' who had a hit with a reworking of 'Wild Thing' by The Troggs....made No.14 in the US Billboard and hit the No.9 spot in Canada in '74 - made about the top twenty in Australia too. The contacts are printed double size from the original 35mm film and have the band against a white backdrop ( that was too small ) in the studio shot. There are some real gems in Zacron's photographic folios - still a faint scent of bromide on the prints that have been in storage for many years. I always love to acquire photographic work from the sixties and seventies and prefer the black and white work, of which most of this is. |

Just to say l need to pause 'Tigers' for a few days as there appear to be a few people reading the entire 120,000 words and they require time to catch up - I'm sure they must skip some of it, but either way, thanks to anyone who treks through the content and l hope you find something of interest. 🙂🙃🙂🙃 |
