Brighton are one of the 4 teams who have dropped points to us this season, so from that perspective it gives us a chance, the reality will probably be far different. |

There is a theory doing the rounds that Bella Kotchap has made 24 Premier League appearances and that if he makes 25 it triggers a payment to his former club. I'm not sure about that, if that was the case and we wanted to save money, then we would have loaned him out . So I think it is a lot more simple, neither Martin or Juric really rate him or perhaps like his attitude With Groenbaek what we needed was another big strong midfielder, not another lightweight one, Juric has already said he doesn't play Lallana because he has Mateus Fernandes, I suspect its a similar reason for Groenbaek not playing again. Against Ipswich he was ok, he didn't really stand out for either good or bad reasons, that is probably a positive thing, he did a job, but Juric wants more than that |

I don't really agree with most of this, although the footballing side of things was ok under NC, the commercial side of the club was in a terrible state and when he left without Kat stepping in, we would have headed for bankruptcy. Now it is the opposite, it looks like the club is in a good position off the pitch in terms of sponsorship income, marketing and trying to make St Mary's something more than a football stadium and in doing so bring in more income. Where I do agree with is that we need a director of football who knows what he is doing in terms of running that side of things, NC had Les Reed, much maligned by some on here at the time, on reflection he did much of the groundwork that took the club from League 1 to the Premier league, we need someone like that now |

Reading this post I was trying to work out why I don't like the Steingarten and then it hit me it's a manufactured German bar ( No Germans appear to be actually involved in this) but it is very similar to Gulag 1 or to give it it's more common name The Northam Fanzone. It's an oblong concrete box , a load of benches in front of a TV screen at one end topped off with overpriced beer & food, although the beer is a bit better than the fanzone. It's ok to meet up as there is usually a lot of benches available, but there are a lot better pubs in the area |

Might be useful in getting us out of the bottom 3 of worst ever Premier League seasons in the run in |

A winnable game perhaps and much quaffing of overpriced and tasteless beer in the fanzones after |

Some interesting selections there, some I agreed with and others I didn't think were quite so good. In General I think that the manufactured theme type pubs are the worst, Steingarten, Yates, Grumpy Monkey, in fact most of those bard around Guildhall square are atrocious with the only redeeming quality being that some have cheap drinks offers. The City centre as a whole lacks decent pubs and we have lost a lot of old school pubs in the last 15 years or so. Carlton Place has reinvented itself and has a number of decent pubs, some too small and busy for their own goods |

So what's everyone's top 3 pubs in the City centre, I don't get around much these days in town, so a bit out of touch |

Everybody Hurts when we lose, but no one makes a Stand, no one thinks that it is the End of the world as we know it, they just feel fine

Wood is proven at Championship level, on a brighter note I watched a bit of QPR's win over Derby last night and Ronnie Edwards looked good and scored a decent goal from a corner (might have been a free kick I wasn't watching that closely) So Bednarek, Wood & Edwards might be a good combination in the centre of defence next season |

As I say this wasn't aimed at you, but at the general trend these days at Southampton and other clubs. I agree with you about the issues if you stay, but usually if we have played badly, I move down nearer the front as there are plenty of empty seats, which means i miss the last two issues. I agree with you about applauding the team off after defeat, that is the time to give them a bit of stick, when the final whistle blows, I am ashamed i don't do that myself. Possibly the biggest different between the old days when fans stayed to the bitter end, is that up until 1988 the pubs were shut between 2.30pm & 6pm, so there was no point in storming out and going up the pub as I would suspect most people do. |

You might not want to hear this, but in the 1920's when some of the Shipping Lines moved their bases from Liverpool to Southampton, there was a mass exodus to the South Coast from Merseyside of both the shoreside staff and those who went to sea. Southampton went from being a small town in 1910 with a population of around 105,000, to a major port in 1930 with a population of 130,000 and rising as more shipping companies mostly Liverpool based moved to the port with the opening of the Western Docks, by the start of the 2nd world war it was around 145,000. So a very large population of this city come from Liverpool roots, it could be said that this city was built on the influx of Scousers. Bournemouth saw a small exodus in the early 1980's from Liverpool, so it is easier to see these days as many of those who stayed are still alive. |

Truthfully we have become a set of fans who revel in leaving a game early these days, I am not having a go at Pat here, who is trying to inject some humour, but it is all over social media, people being proud of telling everyone they were on their way out of the ground on the hour mark. In fairness I did that myself at the away game at Bournemouth, so I am not criticising anyone for doing it, just for the fact that people seem to think it is something to be proud of. When I left the game early I didn't feel proud, I felt ashamed. When a team is 3-0 down at half time, there is a chance of coming back, we almost did it at Forest, I stayed for that one and saw a battling performance. 10 minutes to go and 3-0 down I can see why there is not much chance of coming back. The phrase "Rats leaving a sinking ship" is a term of insult, I am not calling anyone a rat here, nor as i say Pat in particular, but it is the principle of the matter, we are supporters of a club and all that word means, we should not be proud of deserting it in it's time of need, in the past supporters would leave the game early and protest in the Car park at the Dell, that sent a message to the board and the media that could not be ignored. Now when I see the "firedrills" at Saints and other clubs it doesn't make me laugh, it makes me sad as what the game has become, many hark on about the good old days of the game, but back then people did not leave the game at half time or on the hour mark, because the team were doing badly, they saw it through till the last 10 minutes. If you leave a game at half time because your team are losing badly, you are not "Old School football fan" you are part of the new breed of supporter. As I say I was ashamed of leaving that early at Bournemouth |

We will be regaled by mass chanting of "Scummers" by our neighbours from across the Forest this afternoon, but we don't seem to care about them as much as they care about us. We don't have a nickname for them as we do our Skate friends towards the East, this must rankle to average Bournemouth fan, in their average 7 years of supporting the club, it must upset them that as an established Premier League club, that they don't have a true local rival apart from perhaps Weymouth. So should we join in with their little game and find a disparaging nickname for them, if so what should it be. Should it be an obvious but fairly friendly one such as "Deck chair attendants" or should it be a llittle more vicious. Truth is I can't think of much about Bournemouth that distinguishes it as a town or a football team or for that matter a supporter group. |

Can we get over the 11 points mark by beating the Cherries today, that is all we are playing for now. |

My ex in laws lived in Saudi Arabia, it is not Quatar or Dubai they are zealots, in Western terms their laws & punishment etc are medieval, they are still chopping peoples hands off for stealing and other offences and beheading people in public, they are not going to let a few hotels sell alcohol . The only time you will be on the lash is when you get 300 of them. |
