We were very lucky with our injuries last season: in contrast we have been very unlucky with injuries this season. Not sure how we can legislate for losing the number of important first team players we’ve lost for extended periods in the last few months.
Which of the players who left should we have kept? Willock and Armstrong weren’t signing new contracts and there weren’t many complaining too much when Dozzell and Dykes left. In relation to the new signings they are all improving with the exception of Celar and maybe Madsen. Main issue is not getting a third striker at all.
Nourry is the head of all departments but you’re naive to state no-one else has any responsibility for the recruitment and medical issues and on the pitch results. Ben Williams and the medical team, Andy Belk and the recruitment team, Marti Cifuentes and the coaching team and the players are all part of this.
I’d 100% stick with Celar. We can’t afford to give up on the lad. Lloyd is good to come on with his energy for the second half. Kolli has shown nothing to suggest he can play as a lone striker.
I had no problem with Celar taking the penalty at the time: all the fury is with the benefit of hindsight as the bloke missed. Cifuentes made it clear that both Madsen and Celar were designated penalty takers and Celar scored a good penalty against Luton so does know how to take them. Also the booing of him when he was substituted was pathetic.
Not worth engaging too much with them mate: the pitchforks are out and the decision has been made that Nourry is a dangerous power crazy megalomaniac out to destroy the club. QPR fans have always loved a scapegoat when times are tough.
There are some ridiculous suggestions in this thread. Celar deliberately missed the penalty? Chair and JCS are not injured and are being kept fresh to sell in January?
The last thing we need is Smyth out injured as well. Yes his end product often leaves a lot to be desired but he gives 100% commitment and always tries to make things happen. Opposition defenders always struggle against him. We lost momentum when he came off on Saturday.
It would be wrong to sack Cifuentes now as he has had to contend with a terrible run of injuries to important players. Most of all Frey: I said at the end of the transfer window we’d be screwed if he got injured and sure enough that’s where we are. However we have most of those players back in the next few weeks and Cifuentes has got to get the best out of this squad to generate some wins: if not then he could have no complaints if he loses his job. He has credit in the bank but no manager/head coach can go into December with one win in total and no home wins all season with expectations of remaining employed.
Seems a bit of a risk for an ambitious manager trying to make his name in English football to sacrifice it all for a few quid more when he’s sacked. Very much doubt he agreed a new contract just for the money.
Must be nice to know stuff. Did you go to the game yesterday? Plenty of support (rightly) for Cifuentes but didn’t see any of your leaflets or hear any Nourry out chanting. Poor Celar seemed to be the target for the abuse.
Regardless of the flooding the Central Lane has been poor for years. 17 minutes until the next eastbound train at White City after the game. Sadiq Khan has a lot to answer for.
Black Mountain: more space rock than hard rock though this hits hard when it kicks in. Saw them at Glastonbury back in the day and the lead singer was told they only had time for one more song so they played this in its 16 & a half minutes glorious entirety. Were pretty much dragged offstage at the end.
Mad that some still slag off Andre Gray: a natural finisher and just what we are missing and have done for a good few seasons. Scored 10 goals for us: we’d kill for a player who could manage that nowadays.
That was the route my dear old Dad used to take for decades. Never seen any issues down there, hardly any pedestrians, traffic not speeding at all. Hardly some sneaky cut through. In fact it only really queued up more once the ridiculous cycle lane was added on King Street as drivers worked out which direction and from where bikes/scooters/mopeds/buses/cars/pedestrians were now coming from. More ££££s for the council to squander on other things though.
