As ever you put into words far better than I can what I feel. Disaster was never mentioned. Ongoing frustration at sacking off the cup every single year, absolutely. Wasn't even necessarily based on the one game. Wasn't even necessarily the team selection, but Marti's in-game "ah well who cares?" approach during it, just as much. And yes I am glad we won the next two games, but I will have long forgotten those in two years' time, compared to 9.000 Rangers at Old Trafford.....imagine Kolli and Morgan and Smyth against Maguire et al. It's those moments I remember from the past, rarely the league games. |

Yes - exactly. You just can't compare. I've been to home games in the PL watching Les, Ray, Wegs and barely 10,000 there. Or away ends at Chelsea that weren't sold out. If I remember right, Loftus Road wasn't even anywhere near sold out for our SF against Liverpool in 86. Imagine that now, you would need evidence of a QPR tattoo on your genitalia to even be allowed to apply for tickets. |
| Forum Reply | Dunne off? at 07:36 24 Jan 2025
I would be very sad to see Jimmy go but it appears there is every chance. £2m or not, what would worry me is what happens at right back without him. When Dunne isn't there, we have been so poor down that side. |

"Edwards is better than Morrison" - disagree. Forgetting the fact Edwards isn't ours, Morrison was excellent when paired with Cook. Really good. Edwards was awful at Leicester, had a game against Plymouth where I could have kept them out then played nicely against Hull. Not sure that is enough evidence to say he is better than Morrison. |
| Forum Reply | If all fit and firing, who's first choice at CB? at 15:38 22 Jan 2025
Why on earth play Edwards ahead of our own players unless there are no other bodies? I am with Ned, don't get that at all. Also, he's played three games, one of which he was terrible in and the other two he was goodish. No way he is ahead of JCS or Morrison or Fox in my view. Play him when we have no-one else I reckon. |

But we weren't doom mongers. mate. We were just furious that we tossed away the FA Cup yet again. That it doesn't matter to the club. I don't understand why you think that throwing the cup is why we have won the next two games. We could (shock horror) have won the cup game, taken it seriously, and then....still won the next two games. It was an FA Cup match, not a Squid Game. Didn't mean everyone would collapse for months if they played in it. |
| Forum Thread | Sir Marti of Cifuentes at 09:10 22 Jan 2025
I love this guy. His work over the last couple of months has been extraordinary. A threadbare squad churning out results and getting so much improvement out of the young players. Do you know what makes me love him more? He's not flawless. I don't always agree with him. I still don't think we should have rotated in the cup, I thought sticking on Madsen and Ashby last night was bonkers. But, unlike many managers of the past, there's a plan. There's a calmness. There's a touch of genius. Where's that brilliant flag of him gone? We need it back. |

Yes there are? Luke Littler had to go to Bahrain only a few days after the world championships :-) I just find the resting stuff so tiresome, I know (of course) it has to be done blah blah blah but.....I am just old and grumpy. |

I hate modern football. They're footballers, make them run around for 90 minutes three times a week whilst coping with the stress of huge wages, massive cars, wine, women and song. We'll soon get to the point where we rest everyone for every game and I will be upfront with my Mum. And she's 89, so better rest her the following week. |

I know what you mean about the Premier League, but that aside and in the gentlest way possible - you were happy for us to go out the cup. You don't want us to get promoted. What do you want us to do? Run a nice balance sheet? :-) |
| Forum Reply | Getting Edwards in straight away - now that's great work !! (n/t) at 08:08 19 Jan 2025
Exactly, he obviously played well but that is one of the worst home teams I have ever seen. He was awful at Leicester. Let's not get carried away. As for someone earlier saying it was worth throwing the cup game for him to get some minutes - words fail me. Not to rehash old arguments, but why can't we try and win all the games? He's not even ours! Delighted we won at Plymouth, still adore Marti, but still not happy at not trying our utmost in the cup. You can just as easily argue we would have won yesterday anyway if we had rested players against them and gone full bore in the cup. |

Good and interesting point, Brian, I had always thought it was the other way round and feel that the owners or those above should make it plain that the cups are important, perhaps even more important than the league. You could well be right. I am still annoyed, and even if we win at Plymouth I still will be, right up till next season's 3rd round. I don't buy Marti's replies. I don't care about keeping squad players happy - it's not De Bruyne on the bench but a kid keeper and a loanee CB. Balls to it they can work their way in like everyone else. Going to try and get over it now! |

Yeah me too, I went when we lost in the promotion season (I think) and the whole experience was so incredibly unpleasant all round I vowed never to go again, and haven't done so far. Maybe it has changed, but I hated every minute of it from London Bridge onwards, during the game and back again. |

Yes - in a word of praise - unlike the farcical website system, I have for quite a few years now found everyone at the box office super friendly, efficient and really helpful. Don't know who manages them, but good job in my opinion. |
