He goes walkabout too much for me. The gap between defenders and attacking players is too wide. Far too much space for the oppo to play in. Seems to disappear when we get countered too.

I think Leon is positionally the superior of the two, seems to have a knack of being in the right place.
Canas is more of a terrier who chases everything, hence the ball gets played around him leaving holes behind. | |

I thought Canas played pretty well today especially first half but we have been spoilt with Leon in that position over the years.
My only gripe with Canas is he gets pulled out of position sometimes

Leon still edges it for me. Doesn't have the same tenacity as Canas but his positioning and discipline is so critical to our style of play and I think a lot of the problems regarding our style are due to a lack of balance in central midfield.
Canas is a very useful player to have though. He does have problems with discipline and his passing can be erratic but he possesses the aggression that our midfield has lacked in recent years. He was excellent today considering he was up against arguably the best midfield pair in the league in Yaya Toure and Fernandinho. |  |
