To be fair though if they have done 4 days worth of intensive physical training then they will need recovery time to allow muscle fibres etc. to recover, repair. First week back is about establishing baseline fitness levels. From here on, you would expect a increase level of increase in intensity and duration of work as preparation continues. Equally you'll probably see one or two the players working out on their own in light sessions or skill sessions. Conversely some won't, and will instead spend most of their free time on t watter trying to sound intelligent or trying to convince people of how life has been so unreasonable to them.

To be fair, bollox. And more bollox! After last year, I would like one or two of the fookahs to break out of their can't be arsed plateau. Yer couldn't make it up and get paid for fookall unless you were a pro footballer. Or a pro.

As supporters, we have years and years of recovery time ahead of us, for me, I'm waiting for 1977 to improve. QPR players just get BBC style payoffs. Players only love you when you're paying.

Clive, 'Arry has got to get a game of golf in and a meeting with his accountant at some point. The man would be lost without either.

OK then.Lets go with the alternative view. They are all over paid a rse monkeys who should be naturally match fit at all times and immediately be able to work out at full potential and maintain those levels through the entire season. They should work 7 days a week 10 hours a day every week and be fully fit. Pre season preparations are for girls. In comparison to last years meticulous preparation I can't say it's any worse considering where we ended up.

Well why not give them the day off? It's hardly as if we need any extra work is in terms of strategy, organisation fitness or technique etc., Redknapps got us running like a machine. Everything is so perfect within the squad i'm sure there's virtually nothing more to work on already after 3 whole days. No need to gather for squad building purposes, they're a tight little group of friends already. Can't see any logical reason to spend time studying the opposition. We certainly don't need any set piece practice, we've got that absolutely nailed down. ffs

Spot on indeed. But can't we practice our free kicks and corners??!! If nothing else, for the wages they're on, it just looks bad. Can't they play pool or something? [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

they should be made to sit and watch highlights from last season to ensure they don't want to go through that again. Followed by watching highlights from our Championship winning season Followed by watching some highlights of Francis, Macca, Sir Les, Marsh, Bowles... Followed by going to some local community centers or hospitals to see some under privileged children.
Derry on 09:38 - Jul 5 with 584 views | smegma | To be fair to Sparky I don't think his meticulous planning would have included flying half way round the world to play two meaningless friendlies in conditions players would never experience in the next millenia in the UK. But Beard & TF didn't think about what was good for the squad, just saw a business opportunity that probably brought in less dosh than the home friendlies we've played in the past against Celtic. But don't worry Beard is a business genius.

No, they need to put your feet up & rest! That's part of their job.
