Very hard to pick a favourite film ever, there's so many things that make you want to watch a film over and over again. It might have a brilliant story, great technically or just be easy entertainment without much thinking involved. Here's a few I love for any of those reasons. Memento,Pulp Fiction,One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest,The Shawshank Redemption,Die Hard,The Life of Brian,Dead Mans Shoes,Jaws,Team America,The Karate Kid,Ferris Buellers Day Off,Touching the Void.

Absolutely 49th!

Anyone who watched the recent series about Tank Men (the campaigns in Egypt & Normandy) will understand that by 1944 our lads were mentally and physically exhausted, fighting within death-traps designed by idiots which were vastly inferior to the German tanks. We'd already given our all, firstly in trying to defend France from invasion, fighting back on multiple fronts (with the Russians) to wear down the Nazi machine, before the Yanks deigned to get involved to clear things up after being goaded by Pearl Harbour (thanks Japan!) and claim the glory. Yes, they had heroic soldiers who fought and died alongside us, but we'd been doing that for years whilst they sat back and piled up their fortunes whilst we inherited a war debt that we still haven't managed to shake off.

Yes, I saw that. What I was unaware about the war in Egypt was that it was the Americans who supplied us with hundreds of new tanks, which we later had to pay for, without those new tanks and their more reliable designs we would have struggled much more. In this respect, we have to thank the Americans.

Definitely, without the Lend-Lease Act God knows what situation Britain would have been in by 1942.
