Coleman fails to agree terms on 18:52 - Jan 19 by rafc1984 | Good news weve had talks, now its about negotiations. One thing is for sure, he is the man and CD is going to get him. Offer him 3yrs because even if we went down, we would be competing at the right end of the table next season. |

Coleman fails to agree terms on 18:17 - Jan 19 by 1907 | How could this situation have been handled any worse? Every thing to do with the club at present is a joke. Nobody has a clue what is going on, the clubs interaction with the fans is at an all time low. Its not that bloody difficult to make a statement telling us what the hell is going on now is it? Why do we have to find out EVERYTHING off sky sports understands? For Christ's sake man I really am at an all time low currently with this club. |

Coleman fails to agree terms on 19:40 - Jan 19 with 2117 views | batman | It will probably (as usual) come down to money. ASSuming 50K/year at Accy x 3.5 = 175k. Dale need to beat that so 2 years @ 100k puts us in front or better still 3 years @ 70k = 210k last option (pro-rata) is a better option for me

I don't think we'll get a better manager than Coleman at this time. If we miss out on him, and we really aren't sticking with Beech, then it'll only be those managers left that Dunphy sort to avoid when he appointed Eyre.

Coleman fails to agree terms on 20:16 - Jan 19 with 1982 views | ChaffRAFC | Really hope we can go back and get Coleman. The appointment of Steve Eyre and Frankie Bunn in the summer reminded me greatly of when we appointed Paul Simpson and Jamie Hoyland and I told people as much. The potential appointment of John Coleman really reminds me of when we appointed Steve Parkin. He'd done well at Mansfield Town who were in a similar state to us. There's not that much between us and Accrington unfortunately, it's a step up in Division's but in terms of actual league positions between us, it's not a big difference. We're in the mire and in desperate need of someone to take a no nonsense approach and save us. Not unlike when we finally got rid of Barrow and Hinnigan. He's not going to come cheap at all and I think it's going to take a monumental effort to take him away from Accrington, a club that practically worships him in what wouldn't be a massive step up and is a big risk to him. He's practically got a job for life at Accrington but coming here would see him come straight into a very tough battle to avoid relegation to the same Division he'll have just left. Really think all the stops need to, and will be, pulled out to try and get him but I'm not massively confident we can get him.

with the money given to coleman and stanlly and given to eyre bunn and beech to leave why are we not spending it on team or why didnt we just give it Eyre to give COG kUQI from the start .We were and still are a good centre forward from being a good team.

Don't forget to take high-rate tax into that though I agree with your premise - that we need to beat Accy financially - but the longer the term the more years basic tax allowance can be taken up I'd say more like: £80k x whatever at Accy (hasn't he just signed an extension of his contract beyond 3.5 years?) - but assuming 3.5 years = £280k less tax = approx. £195k (before NI) If we offer 2.5 years @ £120k = £300k less tax = approx. £205k

When did Beech leave then? When did we give Accy any money for Coleman? Please elucidate.

because a good manager is worth his weight in gold, and history shows that its better to invest in the manager rather than the team. Look at Hill and Flicker - fair enough I know it was them that spent the money to take them to BFC, but they turned free transfer players like Wiseman and Done into a £250,000 transfer. On the flip side, a poor manager such as Eyre will make good players look average or worse (were any of his players who were here from the Summer look any better or worse in December?) Good managers turn average players into £££. Poor managers turn good players into average/poor ones.

Hill had the platform to improve his players with better players in a lower league with worse teams innit compared to Eyres or anyone else that had to start this season with less than ten players in best league1 there has ever been and Eyres never had a penny or a propr window to target a better standard of player. He had about 3 weeks and only the loan windows.that dusnt help his options much.He helped the youth lads loads and got on with it and made the youth team feel wanted. He included lots in first team team trainin and made whole first team scuad turn up to support the youth in a big game.Eyre could coach and develope and cared about youth but needed ago at buying not loaning a better class of player for first team.Him doin that would have made first team better, kept im there longa and then the youth could have been cared for and develpoed good. Now we lose if Beech is first team or youthteam coz hes a joke really.

Talking of which, nice to see Beech include the young lad Abadaki in Tuesday's game. He even got on the pitch for the last ten minutes.

I'm sorry, but that simply confirms the impression I got from hearing Eyre speak at the fans forum He gave the impression of having far too much of an interest in what was going on in the youth team set -up at Dale than was wise for someone in his recently-acquired position

he finished with a better team than what he started with he was sortin it out and should have stayed on longer.I was open to him leavin coz didnt really understand why and jus trusted the club but they are wrong and and its being proved so.Ive learnt so much this month or so and the mess of it all makes me feel sick. For me the best people are the fans the best judges are the players and they were sad and unhappy that i do know as factt and other than Hill comin back im really sad and questioning wots right and wrong more thesesdays coz Beech is a joke and Eyres was a good football young man with knowledge like a bit of a football junkie wierdo type.At worst they should have invested in an old type like Horton or Johnson whos just gone back to Yoevil just to see him through and more importantly us.What a waste what an injustice.Ive felt sick 3 Times at this club.Hill goin Eyres goin and Beech failing.Lets get it right now.

not when were in a relegation battle, leaving tutte and grimes on the bench okay include him in the squad, but to pick him ahead of those mentioned was laughable

Steve Eyre commanded absolutely no respect from a vast majority of the players...this would not have changed. Too nice/soft to cut it as a manager i'm afraid.

Only a guess D Alien. I've as much idea as you as to what the real figures may be. What I'm saying though is that our offer must be a minimum of approx 20% higher than what he's on at the moment. The tax thing is a red herring by the way, unless Accrington is a tax haven lol

Top post, and it's entirely this why it's so important that a club of our size gets a good manager who's adept at buying, improving, and selling. Please let Dunphy pull this out the bag!

Yep, pretty much guesswork! A great deal depends on how good his accountant is! I wonder what Coleman's thinking tonight? Like Hilly, will the lure of having the prospect of higher league football waved under his nose make his loyalty to Accy recede into the distance? If the man's got anything about him, he won't be content to finish his career just treading water. We need someone at the helm who has ambition, tempered by inner steel and judgement - someone who the players simply wouldn't dare take for granted! That might strengthen Chris Dunphy's bargaining hand when both parties wake up tomorrow morning. Sleep well, guys!

he substituted the goalkeeper 1 minute before the end of extra time for a supposed better penalty saver - it worked as we beat Bournemouth 5-3 in the shoot-out

Dont get me wrong, not saying that he all but announced he was leaving, but there was certainly no "I'm staying at Accy and that's that" [Post edited 1 Jan 1970 1:00]

Did Keith Hill say something along the lines of 'it's dead in the water' after the first round of negotiations with Barnsley...? Shortly followed by being rolled out as the new Manager of Barnsley..?? As for the posts of 1907 on this thread....I can't think why you would expect a football club to answer to speculation at your beck and call. Communication from the club based on fact would be a more appropriate way forward.
