Beatles..your favourite track.. 23:13 - Feb 28 with 3531 viewsDiscodroids

Back in the wilderness years , (before i re-trained for  6 years to become a  probation officer), as a non marine reinsurance broker/alcoholic/coke addict , i was at my 48th consecutive day of NA meetings ..

so there i was in the bermuda triangle of booze, gear, and bullshit city 1989--2008 sitting there mute. in a crumbling church at a na meeting..stupefied into silence by the demonic delusions of grandeur and ego of those in the semi circle with me earning £250,000+ in chalk stripe and gold card lunch expenses in leadenhall market.

at the end of the meeting feeling lower than Karen carpenter doing the limbo, the sponser pulled me aside and told me the story of' Dear prudence' by the beatles.

Humans are capable of great things. it changed my life. It will be played at my wedding. And i will remember where i was in 2008. people change, give them a second chance to prove it.

the Beatles cross the great divide of every generation.

Great thread Disco, the Beatles do indeed bring all together…so for that reason and the dact that it has a real edge and tension throughout, I just love this one:

For the love of god I beg of you please lock this thread. You see I sleepily clicked on it by mistake this morning and then blow me I again sleepily clicked on one of the links therewithin and still in the hope of perhaps hearing a Michi Frey injury update all I see/hear are swinging sixties beat combo songs and not a dicky bird on a twisted Swiss calf muscle, a groin strain, or even a glass onion. Where’s the QPR news? Nowhere, man!

Anyway since you ask and in no particular order (order!):

Back In The USSR … which is where Trump will end up when he’s busted. Who you calling an Anthony Blunt she said she said.

Sun King? more like Sun Lamp King. The state of the fcuker’s boat. Like an anorexic supermodel’s been force-fed exotic Soleros for a week then shat her watery excreta all over his already repulsive boko. My sweet Lord!

The Fool on the hill? The Fool on Capitol Hill more like. I could go on but I don’t want to spoil the party. I should have known better than to bang on about Mean Mr Mustard Face here there and everywhere. Girl, I’m sure we can work it out but for now good day sunshine. Hello? Goodbye!

Give me love, give me hope, give me peace on Earth 🙏🏼 The End

"I am the Walrus"

Unbelievably weird video and both the film and song clearly written and performed by people high on very illegal substances of some kind, but love this track and the video too.

How do you isolate a favourite track. In My Life along with While My Guitar Gently Weeps if I’m pushed but then again there are many more. As an aside who has seen the Bootleg Beatles or listened to the Analogues.

My missus is watching the Brits and I’ve just overheard the fact that apparently Sam Fender is described as an “alternative act” ??? I give up .
I’m a stones fan but the Beatles had too many good tunes to describe on as a favourite. Blackbird and Penny Lane are pretty awesome though .

Two Of Us and Helter Skelter. Always find it hard to believe these two wonderful songs are by the same band.

BTW I am finally finishing a film about the world of Beatles fandom called A Love Letter To The Beatles over the next month that will be out in the summer and a film I've made about Beatles PA and Rolling Stones tour manager Chris O'Dell is out in May. I'll put up a few trailers soon.

The Swindon Beatles. Sweatles?

Never had heard of the dukes until this morning when I listened to Andy Partridge who was the guest today on the Rockentuers podcast.

A beautiful song. I sometimes listen to it on repeat and think how old was McCartney when he was writing stuff like this?

In terms of my favourite I just cannot pick one as I am a Beatles addict.

Balearic as f**k, this.

Maybe not their absolute best, or my absolute favourite…but underrated, so I like to give it a plug whenever the opportunity arises…

Something Beatles related on I've been working on over the last year or so. Due out in the summer.

So many great songs over a such a short period. Depending on the day my favourite can change between numerous songs. As good as Lennon and McCartney were Harrison's "While my Guitar gently weeps" "Here comes the sun" and "Something" are mega but if I had to pick it would be "Ticket to Ride" a great undervalued classic from the mid Beatles era.

I was a very depressed teenager, and this song used to do a lot of heavy lifting

Sorry to divert from a lot of serious/illuminating/considered answers etc (taught me more about them), but I couldn't help seeing the thread title and being reminded of the Alan Partridge gag where the hotel receptionist in the Norwich Travel Tavern (I think) asked him:
"What's your favourite Beatles album, Mr. Partridge?"
Alan gives it a bit of thought and replies:
"Er, Greatest Hits?"

Which in turn recalls the even better line when, on hearing "Band on the Run" (or somesuch) playing in the lift, he remarked:
"Ah, Wings. The band the Beatles could have been!"

Anyhow, as you were, I shall now give "Dear Prudence" a good listen.

In My Life for me I think overall. I'm always partial to a well written tune by any act that takes a wistful look back at their lives (a thread theme for another day perhaps...)

Not been for a few years now but always love spending an afternoon down in the Cavern Club when I'm in Liverpool.
