One thing that stands out 22:25 - Dec 14 with 2281 viewsbuilthjack

When Cabango and Darling play as out and out centre halves, with Grimes 30 yards or so forward, we do well. The centre backs go one left, one right, and know what they are doing.
Recently Grimes has gone back to his old trick of dropping in amongst them. Our game changes, we struggle. For heavens sake get him from there.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

This is exactly what Grimes, along with other senior pros, did after the defeat at Cardiff (on the back of a horrendous run of performances and results) last season. Playing style changed significantly the next game.

And exactly what he hasn't done in the matches I refer to
It's heresy to critics players

You’re assuming he feels uneasy about his role

Listening to William's after match interview he was quite harsh and realistic about how we played he didn't point fingers at individual players, he did acknowledge we played well in the first 20 mins but mentioned us switching off thinking the job was done.

Key and Tymon are not bad players they are expected to push forwar in that first 20mins they defended well so did Cabango, Darling and Grimes, because Key and Tymon got close to the wingers closing them down Cabango and Darling didn't need to cover the full backs so much and therefore Grimes didn't have to drop so deep to cover so was able to operate as a linking role able to progress us further up the pitch getting a positive 20 mins start.

Now here is the rub as the opposition press us committing players forward Grimes is pushed and drops deeper, in an attempt to get us on the front foot Key and Tymon push forward which mean Darling and Cabango have to cover them meaning Grimes has to drop deeper and our primary link between our forwards is stifled and our defensive shape is lost.

This is when the fullbacks need to drop back into defensive shape to cover the flanks and other midfielders or forward have to drop into the midfield to re-establish the link to get us moving in the positive direction.
We must remember the opposition is trying to out do us so it is sometimes not easy and sustainable those links to maintain the upper hand even harder against better teams.
Our backs are not bad players, do they make mistakes yes as all defenders are forced to, Cabango has used his experience to shut down so many attacks, Darling is starting to as well but Key and Tymon pushing forward needed to realise against better teams they have to pick their runs better and keep their marking tight it would also allow Grime to keep further up the park, if he is being marked tightly he needs to move out of that central position at times pulling players around letting our othermidfielder establish the link to the forwards.

Shouldn’t PLAYERS stand up to a coach if THEY feel uneasy about their role .
This offends you then.
You are of of the belief players should do as they are told no matter how dumb .
I’m assuming that .
A club captain has a duty to really how his fellow pros feel about the tactics deployed. If they stay mute ,then it can be assumed they acquiesce to how they play .
That means the mistakes they made, the gross game management can’t be helped .

In short, what we are seeing on the pitch, the way we operate , is supported entirely by Grimes . He really cannot be questioned at all.
Can he ?

Can you imagingine players telling a Premier League manager past or present that they are not happy with their role, they would be lucky to remain at the club.

I absolutely can .
Clough himself would listen to players then tell them they were wrong .
I find it incredible modern day ephemeral club players do NOT express dissatisfaction with their roles .
They are too self centred to be a modern day serf

I'm sure good managers have discussion with their players and Captains and coaches at times and even end at loggerhead with them, if all is going well a certain amount disagreement would be tolerated it happens especially if the player thinks they know better than the manager or feel they are unable to carry out their wishes, I am sure the manager has the final say but some players do seem to have a lot of influence.

Of course they should. I’m just pointing out Grimes has already demonstrated he has the minerals to do exactly that.

You may feel he’s not happy with his role and he’s not standing up to Williams about it, but that’s all just guessing on your behalf.

As you know full well, he’s the most criticised player on here by a country mile.
