QPR v Naaaarwich Match Thread 11:58 - Dec 6 with 36973 viewsWilkinswatercarrier

Not spotted one, so thought I'd start my first match thread.

Will we all get there, will the roof stay on, will QPR finally win at home?

Ancient astronaut theorists say 'YES' to all of them. A hard fought 2-1 win (though I'd be happy with a point and beating Oxford midweek).

U R's!

Nice movement and header, not sure what the goalkeeper was doing there but we'll take it. Celar isn't scoring on that.

Goalie complettely misjudged it, but "take nothing away from Kolli" (c) Sinton

Will this be the game that Kolli flowers?

Didn't he used to play alongside Cubby Broccoli's grandson for Nottingham Florets youth team?

Got to hold on to this, cannot afford to let Norwich back in.

My cat, currently curled up tightly in the way cats do when they're getting in some serious zzzzs, was more awake than Norwich for Kolli's goal.

Our press has been brilliant today, we keep making them increasingly uncomfortable at the back. Just need to hope we can keep it up for long enough to see out the game.

Just started to write this here, and saw we have 6 mins of added time, and really it could be 10...................and we scored...................lol
Well the game is like the weather here, frantic, and all over the place, but what a first half
I can say hand on heart I have never seen us up for a game so much than in that first half. We have been all over Norwich and in the mortal words of Corporal Jones" They don't like it up 'em"
We have been fantastic. Harrying and pressuring them, and they really do not know how to deal with it, a great watch
JD just poetic that he scored and is having a great match..........Smyth if he had a final ball would be a premiership player.
Never seen us work so har for this, and Kolli getting that 2nd just before half time is really the crown on top of the best half we have had at home
The football was not as good as Watford last week, but by god have we worked, run, harried and pressured those 2 goals
Great performance boys

I had 2-2 Field to score in the predictions league, then woke up in the middle of night and remembered he was suspended. I then lay awake debating whether I should get up and change it or leave it to morning, worrying I'd forget by morning but also not wanting to properly wake myself up in the middle of the night for a poxy predictions league...

So yeah I got up and changed it to 2-2 Dunne.

We are all delighted but cannot ignore the shocking bad performance from the ref so far.He has missed/ignored 1 red and at least 2 yellows maybe even 2 reds fro Norwich and that is totally unacceptable .If we had VAR (I know its bad ) but they would be down to 9 IMO.
Still how perfect was seeing that Keeper pretending to be kicked by Koli having to pick the ball out of his net a minute later from a brilliant goal by the hairy one .
Priceless but we need to not only hold on but get a 3rd to finish it off

Off the training ground that one and superbly executed.
Kolli's timing of his run was *chefs kiss*. Keeper absolutely no chance at all, if Kolli hadnt connected at all that was sneaking in the back post, keeper had to cover that, as soon as Kolli got the run on the defender that was all over.

That was a terrific 45 (and a bit) mins for us. Absolute commitment from the whole team, capped off with two (count them) goals! In front of the actual Loft!

Breathless stuff - so pleased for both Jimmy and Kolli (don't feel I know him well enough to call him Rayan yet, but what. a. header!)

'What do we want? We don't know! When do we want it? Now!'

Finish them off. Marti talks a good game saying that his teams look for an extra goal rather than sitting on a lead, but I've not seen it.

Low block from the off. Might be a hard watch this half. Next goal utterly massive.

...and let's not talk about Nardi and Morrison on yellow cards...

Can we go out yet?

I'll talk about it. Ref has been dodgy as fck, Nardi is going to have to be extremely careful.

Norwich have been poor whilst we have been working hard thoroughly deserving our lead. Delighted that my prediction was wrong.

Another injury to add to the list, if it is Celars hamstring then we won’t see him until 2025.

The game isn’t won yet so keep at it boys.

Very solid first half. Dunne the obvious standout performer for his goal and that covering tackle, but there haven’t been any obvious weak links. Two soft goals from Norwich’s perspective, but we were sharper and more committed when it counted.

Particularly impressed with how we’re bossing Norwich physically: snapping into tackles, pressing aggressively, and not afraid to get in the opposition’s faces or the ref’s ear. Such a difference from the meek, passive approach this team’s been prone to for years.

The movement from Kolli for the second goal was good, but the free kick only happened because he was alert and combative enough to chase down a pass back and (legally) leave a little bit on their keeper. If anything, I’m happier about us finally seeming to toughen up than the scoreline.

Norwich will surely be better second half, and we might need to ride our luck a bit. Just need to keep up the physical intensity and not retreat into our shells.

Harum-scarum first half not exactly over-laden with finesse, but a rousingly deserved 2-0 lead, and Jimmy getting the first and playing like a man possessed, plus a first goal for our Hair Bear Kid is windblown poetry in motion. Our high press has been verging on the manic, and by god it warms the heart.

They've got to come at us now, and if they get one, it could get rocky, but on the other hand we've a bit of pace up top and might pick them off on the break.

It'll be 2-2 or 3-0. Probably.

Ashby for Paal!

Excellent sub I thought he was very poor apart from that excellent free kick.
Norwich have 98 year old Shane Duffy playing he can be exposed every time we should exploit that here
