I have a couple of times. And here's another one - 7.09, slightly to the right of the celebrations, young man in a sheepskin - Kevin Fitzgerald, Warwick Ave's finest, 'Golly' to his school mates. Where are you now, squire?
Players taking corners with the ball just outside the quadrant. What's that 'innovation' about?
My God does this annoy me. There cannot possibly be any advantage yet it's a trend that's swept world football. You rarely get through 90 mins anymore without - at some point - the ref telling the player to move the ball before a corner is taken, the player moving the ball about 3mm and then everything being fine again. It feels to me like they just enjoy irritating refs by mocking how strict the rules are, like a teenager sarcastically trolling their parents' rules. Compare that to how rugby union players treat and respect the rules and officials... Night and day.
What about holes cut into the back of socks? Why? 99% of footballers are idiots basically.

This indeed. My 68 year old self does have a little guffaw when I see all corner takers now moving the ball out to 'overhang' the corner area border line. Maybe I'm being naïve but does the extra 4 or 5 inches change anything? Improves the angle? Gets the ball further away from the corner flag? Or as with most things in life an extra 4 or 5 inches makes a big difference. I get the impression that it is done because it's the 'thing to do' now.

Yep, spotted my late father in what is now the Lower Loft on the tv from the 1979 home game v Birmingham (I had a Saturday job at the time). Paused it whilst Don Shanks was having a bust up with Mark Dennis and located him. It is now my screen saver.

Due to our prominent position in the front of ML we always seem to get our faces shown on the tv highlights, including the minute’s silence before the Sunderland game. I managed to make a copy of it to stop my grandchildren going anywhere near the fireplace.

It makes shit corners, because that’s what most of them are, even shittier. All I can get from this is that it gives those attacking a chance to mess things about a little bit further. It’s utter bollocks, and it is a piss take.
