Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower on 22:29 - Aug 30 with 3276 views | jacksfullaces | the premier league such a distant memory, even those hangover players a far cry than the level we are operating at. 4th or 5th rebuild now, each with a lower budget; ultimately budgeting for a level (League 1) but hoping we can find the coach who will knit something unique together. Feels more and more desperate, almost every coach we have run out of town goes onto bigger and better and yet we expect more from the next guy. Tough times.
Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower on 22:32 - Aug 30 with 3236 views | ReslovenSwan1 | The club lost close £18m last season. This suggests overpaying not underpaying. An eye watering £340k a week. Williams has to bring the age down and start playing Abdullai Parker Govea Wilson etc. What is Broome doing at the squad if he cannot hold down reserve keeper slot?

It’s by no means a complaint from this website, they have to do what they have to do, and the facts are staring us right in the face.

Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower on 22:35 - Aug 30 with 3229 views | dobjack2 | Is this why we have been shopping abroad - because no home based championship level players will come here on the wages we are offering? Offer League 1 wages, players will run down their contracts to get more money at other championship clubs whilst we end up signing League 1 players and playing League 1 football. Is it time to start judging the chairman on his actions?

They are hoping something comes good or someone. Buy low, offer low wages (but not for the players recruited) and hope (again) one pays off for a big return.

It all feels a bit underwhelming. Lets hope I am wrong and we win well at West Brom tomorrow. Maybe the club and trust can put another fans forum on during the international break so Williams, Coleman, and Watson can give some insight on some of the challenges over the last few months.

Facts, owners are a hedge fund? .....there"ll only be one outcome.
Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower on 03:26 - Aug 31 with 2559 views | RhonddaSwans | Yeah if we by some miracle stay up this cost cutting will either have one of these outcomes. A: We will be sold and have new owners who know running a football club ,costs money and have the ambition to at least half roll the dice. (The books being balanced will give new owners a clean run at building something) B: This is the long term plan and our owners , have more wiggle room financially to actually challenge for a play offs spot (after the squad we come down with this is sad) C: We go down 📉 If we go down we are actually probably going back to being a mid table league one team. I don’t care as I am Swansea Till I Die, but we will end up ground sharing with the ospreys. If Luke doesn’t do something special we are screwed. Our club’s future is looking bleak the only way that the owners will pull this back is by Ben , Liam , Harry getting long term contracts. I would rather them being signed to long term deals than signing an extra player today. Let’s hope this Brentford lad can cut the mustard.

Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower on 06:53 - Aug 31 with 2371 views | PawelAbbott | The club has far too many additional expenses for the size of its income. The Chairman takes a large wage, Head of Communication takes a decent wage. There are Sports analysts are all sorts of different levels of team. We have 2 state of the art facilities at Landore and Fairwood and the staff needed to run them. They all take money away from the pot used to produce the First team, yet the only revenue generation comes from the performances of the First team. The loss against Wycombe means that there is no lucrative home fixture against Villa. That is at least £500k of lost opportunity. A sell out gate against Villa, a few hundred with renewed interest on the league gate. Maybe TV revenue from the game etc. The only way the club increases revenue is through success with the first team. They need to cut out the wasted wages away from the team and focus on developing the foundations of a successful team.

The club did not lose £18M last season it was the season before the accounts are a year behind, we will receive last seasons figures up to 31st July this year in August next year. Last season we sold Piroe in August, £10M? and received the second payment in July, both in last years accounts due out in August next year. In July this year, last month, we paid off 5 loan charges again in last seasons accounts due out next August, did we use the Piroe money to pay off the loans? why did we pay off the loans when we could have just serviced them as we had been doing for several years it would have been far cheaper? What is the reason for clearing the club of debt instead servicing it, a cheaper option like many clubs do. I will leave the more intelligent of you to draw your own conclusions. The fact is by clearing the debt all at once we end up with player purchase/contract strategy we have. Yes the club could not continue to run up massive debts, but if Piroe had been sold a couple of weeks earlier The £18M debt of the season before last would have been closer to £8M. Play with figures if you like but the fact is the club is now debt free with a low cost base, not one to likely to challenge for promotion, but a very attractive purchase option. Hopefully we will win today and be in the top six, but long term I can not see the current strategy benefiting the supporters or players.

Staff in any business need motivation and although money may not mean as much as your ordinary man on the street, it is still important. It’s a short career. I can’t believe the short sightedness of the owners but I don’t know the internal machinations of the club so maybe there are other potential earning opportunities.

Poor performances will lead to apathy amongst the supporters who will then vote with their feet, lowering the clubs income further, the owners are banking on the team being strong enough to stay in the Championship. The post above about the amount of personnel behind the scenes is correct, surely there must be people who are capable of covering a few roles instead of what seems to be like an employee for each role. The important part of any business is the product, that's what improves income. [Post edited 31 Aug 9:22]

Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower on 11:54 - Aug 31 with 1634 views | jack247 | Same just needs to happen before we get relegated. If we’re signing league one players and letting ours run their contracts down, it’s only a matter of time before we’re a league one team. Fairly confident we’ll be fine this season. That won’t last forever though.
Swansea offering average League One contracts, and lower on 14:34 - Aug 31 with 1492 views | KeithHaynes | A footnote to this report has been added. > Footnote : This is in no way a reflection of how the club is being run, or has any impact on the current situation which at this time we believe is stable and reassuring. One person out of twenty thousand who viewed this took offence. He actually offered a meeting with the directors to discuss players contracts and add ons, specific details in breach of data protection. We have spoken to two contacts at the club and offered his name to them. They have no idea who he is, nor of any reason why they should discuss private details with him. Our information is always confidential and from approved sources and agents who have given permission (on this occasion) to disclose what we have. Some people have no idea of the basics of journalism from qualified journalists who have legal representation and approval from a recognised union in the UK.<

What makes you think the owners are in a hedge fund? Do you know your onions or are you bluffing it? I suspect it is a hybrid. In a hedge fund the investors fund the owners not the club. What is it about Hedge funds that ensure failure? Please explain.

The losses were reported last season. In April 2024. Accounts periods are always in arrears and the club is always buying and selling players. Accountants look at more than one year. Saying that the accounts do not include this or that sales do not cut it. The club is losing money on trading. The losses were significant the year before. You are talking about the current account and debt. The club have signed young players with increasing national value like Ronald and Franco. https://www.swanseacity.com/news/swansea-city-confirm-latest-accounts-3 . [Post edited 31 Aug 15:58]

Sorry but that's a pile of nonsense. Again. You clearly do not understand how the accounts work for a football club and the financial rules. Young players only increase in value if they improve. If they are bought for x amount and dont improve or even get worse then their value won't rise. Even then other things come into play such as the clubs financial position, promotion or relegation, or even how hard nosed the owner/chairperson is. As an example, Abdullai, his value has stagnated in my opinion. He has shown nothing to interest other championship clubs and lower placed clubs can't afford to pay a premium. Well Birmingham did go crazy this week but that'll probably come back to bite them.
