Family Stand - help 18:14 - Nov 1 with 3612 viewsQPunkR

Evening all - just wanted to pick the LFW hive mind.

Not sure what he did in a past life to deserve this but the time has come for me to take QPunkR Jr to his first match against Bristol City in a couple of weeks. I haven't sat in the Lower Loft since it became the family stand so have a couple of questions - firstly, on trying to buy tickets for the two of us and his mother, I get the message: "Please ensure there is one adult ticket for every two Under 8 tickets in your basket." Does that mean that it's not possible for me to buy 2 adult and 1 child tickets? How the hell do other similarly sized families do it if that's the case??

Secondly, provided I get over that issue, what's the situation with pushchairs - is there somewhere round the front on SA Rd where you're allowed to store them during the game before going through the turnstiles?

TIA!

I'd check that its not been renamed in the last half hour,

'Always In Motion' by John Honney available on amazon.co.uk

One under 8 and two adults is definitely possible and very normal in the family stand. Try to get seats from row K back so that if it's raining you'll likely stay dry.

I'm not sure where I've seen pushchairs but I'm sure I have, possibly under the family stand? Best bet on this is a phone call to the box office. They're always super-helpful.

The Glorious People's Republic of QPR "recommends" families observe the official "two supporter" policy despite international human rights organisations reporting instances of fathers throwing their wives down a well shortly after birth.

I'm petty sure buggies go in with oversized bags to the left of reception on SAR. And if you're getting an U8 ticket, expect a phone call asking for proof (of age, not paternity).

Thanks for the answers so far. Just to check whether I'm being dim - I was operating on the assumption that I have to buy 2 full price and 1 U8s tickets. Is it the case that I should be buying 'Adult Family 1Adult + 1Junior' plus one at full price instead for this to work?

I have never purchased tickets in the Family area but I would have thought that you want 2 x Full Price tickets (£29 or £31 depending on whether you are a member or not) and 1 Free U8 ticket. As an experiment I added these to my basket and it seemed to work (although I did not checkout, which may be where you get an error message!)
This is surely cheaper than buying 1 full price and 2 family tickets £18.50 each.

"Remember to listen to me but look at her. Don't get it the wrong way round. That would be hideous."

Thanks Hibs - I've tried again and still get the flipping same error message. Will have to call the bloody club and find out what the issue is

Save yourself a migraine and just ring the box office for tickets, that website is impossible to get tickets for the lower loft

Not sure about pushchairs but imagine they will store it for you if you ask

As someone else said try for Row K back as if it rains you will get soaked

They usually have Jude the Cat on the concourse after the game for pictures and a mini shop as well in the corner on the South Africa Road side

Yeah the small merchandising kiosk has been closed for ages so good to see it open again this season.

Cheers Dave, just spoke to em and apparently the issue is that QPunkR Jr isn't registered as he's under 8 so I need to email them proof of age first. So I'll do that and call them back.

Depending on the Weather the fanzone thing they do on the 5 a side pitches up South Africa Road is usually good, loads of different games for the kids and they sometimes have a player turn up

Nice one - think the little'un is a bit young for most of that but will turn up much earlier than usual and check it out. Makes a difference from the previous pre-match ritual in the battle cruiser!

How old is the little un mate

I was toying with the idea of taking my boy when he was about 3 and a couple of my mates advised not bothering they’d taken theirs to games around that age and ended up leaving by half time for multiple reasons cold, too noisy , bored etc

My boy is 8 and has been going for a 2/3 seasons now I took him to Southend first as that’s where we live and it gave him an idea of what going to football was like. Took him there against Wrexham just after they’d been bought was in the August so good weather etc he did pretty well only asked when we were going home with about 10 mins to go

His first Rangers game was a couple of year ago against Hull and he cried when we equalized as the noise was too much only for a minute or so and he’s been fine ever since

It’s great taking them to their first game and is a proper proud dad moment

He's only two and a half so I fully recognise he won't get anything at all out of the experience (do any of us recently??), but we're across in West London for the day anyway and I want to ensure his first ever game is Rangers. No matter what he does in future he'll never be able to change that!

Good luck with it mate

If it is a bit cold and all that there’s a room for kids in the lower loft where they can do drawings and other such stuff

If you have the Lower Lift stairs in front of you hang a left and it’s just down there

Hopefully new manager bounce and 3 points for the little man 👍
