Russell Martin 11:09 - Dec 12 with 1984 views | Dr_Parnassus | Is now the 4th longest serving manager currently in the Championship. I don’t think the ‘give him time’ mob have too much more leeway do they? Coventry Reading Burnley Watford Sunderland These games will take him to 15th of Jan. If we continue our slide and he continues to set us up this way, then we should pay him off, even if we have to make a player sale in order to do so. Allow the new man/woman to come in and do what they can for the remainder of the transfer window, even if it’s restricted to loans or free transfers. Our squad is strong enough to compete anyway.

Constantly playing as we do is most certainly tedious as is the relentless Martin PR show. Tedium seemed to afflict many who went on Saturday. Read the comments apropo .words like Bored, phrases like struggling shoulders all indicate one thing . Fans have a right to comment as they see it,tedious or not.

I realise that, but it’s shrouded with insults at times, which always loses any viewpoint. As for his PR show, I haven’t seen it.

Another meaningless stat from Dr P 5th longest serving manager at 16 months. Just shows how fickle and demanding some clubs and some fans are Edit - have the four longer serving made it to two years? [Post edited 13 Dec 2022 20:37]

Doc P is just stating that at most other Championship clubs Russ would not have lastest...Many on here have posted about giving him time.....he woulld not have received this elsewhere and now one and a half seasons on can you say we are seeing progress? He still cannot manage anything better than a 36% win rate we are on cousrse for yet another midtable fininsh you werent there to witness Saturdays medicore performance

Back to the old " Fans watching us live v fans watching / listening from a distance" argument. Agree all are entitled to a viewpoint. However those at the game ( not including me ) may have a more rounded view. I'll put my tin hat on now for the pelters ...

I’d say one doesn’t have to actually watch us play at all. We are so predictable we know what is happen ending. We also know the content of both pre match and post match interviews It’s all been said before It’s tedious

So if I just read the stats on England v France. France scored twice. England scored once and missed a penalty. Same old England beaten by a better side and moaning. However having watched the game, that is nowhere near the truth. The only predictable thing is after they lost, the English media who had previously lauded them calling for Southgate's head. So I think watching the game gives a truer picture ?

We have been through this several times and proved this in not the case. Hence why those at the game have to rewatch it to confirm what they saw. Those not at the game will know at the time what they saw. More and more fans in the States are now watching from home simply because they see more. I would imagine this is also the case with widely televised sports in the U.K. and Europe.

Only pointless if you don’t understand the point being made, as has been pointed out. Russell has had far more experience at this club than the vast majority of the league managers have at their respective clubs. The “give him time” mantra is over. He is 4th, not 5th. Mark Robins is the most who has managed Coventry for nearly 6 years.

If you don’t attend the game, it doesn’t mean you just read the stats. I didn’t go to Qatar and I just watched the Argentina game with replays, different angles and half and full time analysis - plus had the data to accompany me, there is no way any fan at the game will have a better idea of what unfolded than me with both those tools at my disposal… until they rewatch it and catch up with what those at home know. But the point our friend is making, is we are so predictable in our play you can have a good idea of what has unfolded without even watching it. I’ve predicted the exact outcome many times prior to our match and also stated where the opposition goal will come from long before it does. [Post edited 14 Dec 2022 0:11]

Probably the same on both sides of the debate. I can’t tell you how my brain implodes every time I hear “process”, “dominated”, “time” and people blaming the players, the owners and everything under the sun apart from the obvious. Same stuff gets said every time. As I’ve said before it’s the ying and yang effect. If people don’t identify with the endless positivity then they will try to add that balance, same goes for those that don’t identify with the negative things that are being said they will redress that balance with endless positives.

Russell Martin on 16:37 - Dec 14 with 1416 views | sw02sea | Basically, the title of this thread is what it says on the tin…Russell Martin. Love him or hate him, he doesn’t seem to garner an alternative viewpoint Some say…. Give him time. Trust in his “process” Believe He wants to play the Swansea way. His Possession play will bare fruit in the future. Others say …. He’s had one and a half seasons, and mid table obscurity beckons again. Don’t trust his “process” mantra. The Swansea way used to mean….pleasure watching your team outplay the opposition with guile, craft, pass and move, generally with a bit of pace thrown in. Because of the above, we would then, have generally more possession than the opposition, but end up with more attempts at goal. If possession football means having 70% of it, while dying of boredom watching it, and still loosing, then it’s time for me to relinquish seat *** Row O in the East stand come next season. (This is assuming Martin blags an extension to his contract)
