Carlisle United (a) Match Thread on 12:50 - Sep 2 with 9879 views | KnavesmireBob | I probably focus too much on the personality and communication stuff and am trying hard to not get carried away as we've recently been here before haven't we, but there's been a lot to like about the last few days. I think it was R17 who made a point a couple of weeks ago about the Ray Mathias type of manager that would fit the bill given where we are right now and I imagine Bentley isn't too far away from that. There's a calm confidence about him and his assistant that comes with experience, I can see why they connected with Simon. And on a non-serious sartorial point as much as I'm a fan of the rapper Dave even their Boss and Gant polo's make me feel more relaxed about the type of fare we're likely to be served up on the pitch in the coming weeks!

I was thinking exactly the same about his garb! Managers tend to veer between formality or emphasis on sartorial elegance (think Ralph Hassenhuttl) or casual "i'm one of the lads" sportswear EBJ imo gets it right. Smart casual, as it were. It distinguishes him from his players, and he could walk into pretty much any venue and feel comfortable

As long as EBJ isn't caught wearing driving gloves and we don't have "Living Daylights" as run out music, the future looks bright.

Every time I look at him I just see Hank Schrader from Breaking Bad "And you can go fxxk yourself" not sure how that would work in a thick Scouse accent Badass EBJ!

We played much more directly last week and going off the highlights of him, Quigley isn’t someone who wants the ball smashed up in the air to him. The third goal was a long ball to Malley who then turned, ran and shot. Nothing wrong with mixing it up.

Could one of those be moved into a defensive midfield and if JB sets us up in a 4 2 3 1? [Post edited 2 Sep 2022 19:44]

The big question is which centre backs are actually fit.
