In the Graun yesterday, one commenter suggested that choosing one of the standing candidates is rather like choosing a portaloo at Glastonbury on a Monday morning.
I wanted to share that.

The Lib Dems goose remains well cooked even after 12 years when they propped up the Tories to get a taste of power in the 2010 election. They usually get a bit of tactical voter support in by-elections, as they did recently, but haven't recovered from that disastrous decision.

I rarely watched the news these days, but I wanted to catch something on the Webb Telescope.
Alas I endured BBC World News - matches CNN for woefulness - and the anchor cut to Ross Atkins for his analysis. Right on cue as he starts discussing the candidates, some wag starts playing the theme tune to the ‘Muppet Show’ in the background.
Beautiful, summed the situation up perfectly.

I lost nearly all faith in YouGov since discovering who the founders are and what they did to suppress data over Corbyn's popularity. I would treat those poll results with a deep level of mistrust and scepticism.

I lost nearly all faith in YouGov since discovering who the founders are and what they did to suppress data over Corbyn's popularity. I would treat those poll results with a deep level of mistrust and scepticism.
I think most polls (Though not this one, actually) are pretty much redundant these days, except as perhaps a way to influence people. The difference in polls and actual voting has shown that people on the socially conservative side of things are less likely to respond.

Take a look at the caveat at the bottom of the poll. Lies, damned lies & statistics. Modern polls are designed to give a result compatible with the pollsters desired outcome IMO. As said, the real poll takes place in the polling booths, or the absenteeism level.

You don’t have to persuade me mate, I know full well what YouGov polling is like.
None of the major parties use it for serious polling.
What I meant was, wether the polling in this accurate or being pushed it means the establishment are behind Penny Mordaunt and she’ll probably win.

I saw a poster/ sticker the other day somewhere (bus stop/ lamppost/ etc.) advertising a ‘Karl Marx Walking Tour’ except I misread it as ‘Karl Marx VVanking Tour’ So I spent the rest of the day in a Pervy-croaky Derek & Clive voice saying things like “Ooh distribution of wealth”, “Ooh ooh Proletarian uprising”, and “Ooh ooh ooh religion is the opium of the masses”

Unless you are a Tory MP or a Cons party member, it is irrelevant. Once the whittle down to final 2, it goes to a membership, mostly old, white and Southern, that is unrepresentative of the wider electorate.
Frankly I've gone beyond caring. Whoever wins will end up with a poison chalice of a stuttering economy, a cost of living crisis and a NI problem
