Same old England 17:11 - Dec 30 with 2713 views | trampie | Remember at the start of Covid England pinched millions of pounds worth of PPE Wales had ordered, well now there are stories that we have had to give them 4 million lateral flow tests, yet again Wales bailing out England, no wonder they don't want the union state breaking up, we are paying for HS2 railway and none of the track is going to be in Wales, they know when they are on to a good thing that lot.

The deficit at uk level is truely world class. Well played Professor Drakers, owning the Johnson English Brexit government.

Same old England on 20:01 - Dec 30 with 1906 views | Catullus | Maybe we should criticise Drakeford for making the offer seeing as Wales is short of LFT's too? Drakeford says we have plenty but there's none in Chemists down my way. People in work were saying they couldn't get any either. My local chemist hasn't had any for 2 weeks. PS, Tramps, we didn't "have to" but our not so esteemed leader offered.

Of course we had too to try and save English people's lives, Wales as a morally upstanding country had too, it's in Wales DNA.

That is just it, a fully functioning 'fair' state should send resources to parts of the state that need it but as has been noted by experts Wales does not get enough money via the system used to distribute funds (the Barnett formula), I'm sure I seen it somewhere the guy/or one of the guys that devised it has said as much. And Wales voted Brexit. You may be right re fair distribution but all parts other than the S E of England don’t get a fair deal. One of the reasons Andy Burnham is so popular up here is he’s very vocal about Manchester’s treatment. Wales as a whole, I don’t think, wants independence

The Brexit vote and any independence vote would be skewed, something like a quarter of the population of Wales was born in England.

"The guy" said the formula was only meant to be a stop gap and was no longer fit for purpose. Name some of these experts? Many a fully functioning state is not fair, look at Russia. You don't want to be LGBT, a Jehovah's witness or a political opponent to Putin. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Russia#Political_freedom The world is not a fair place but lets just blame it all on the English eh.

Yes exactly Wales does not get it's fair share of money, if the system was fit for purpose Wales would get more money. Yes exactly for instance homosexual behaviour was banned in this country in lots of people on this site's lifetime. Yes the World is not a fair place but we aren't alway the good guys, people that think we are always the good guys and never wrong and that Johnny Foreigner is always wrong are deluded.

Does that differentiate between eg those born eg in Chester hospital but who have lived in Wrexham since a baby and someone born in England but moved to Tenby in their 50s ? Big difference

I'm afraid you would have to ask the Oxford university professor that studied it and thought that English people skewed the vote.

I think born in England is pretty clear cut. Trampie is stating the facts. On such a small majority, just another 40,000 or so voting Remain in Cymru instead of Leave would have swung it to Remain. Tory England would still have dragged us out though. Wâš“ï¸S.

But someone born in an English hospital but living everyday in wales is as Welsh as me being born in Neath but lived in England since 2000. It should’ve been a huge remain vote in wales bearing in mind all the grants we got.
