Murray was a flop before he came here Holt was barely known Lambert hadn’t done a great deal Dagnall was a kid Hogan came from non-league Rhodes was a kid - unproven Henderson was a poor winger Le Fondre was highly thought of but wasn’t well known The only two “known” strikers who I can think that we went out and signed were Connor & Platt. Over 20 years ago.

Platt himself hadn’t played that much for Walsall before joining on loan initially. It was only that we paid a relatively large fee (ITV Digital era) that makes him stand out.

Just used Platt as an example as he was a known striker with league pedigree & obviously fee involved as you elude to.

The point is that nobody is right at the moment because we don't know anything about the lad. Let's give him a chance instead of just writing him off.

What about Les Lawrence in 1984? He was very proven at the time. He scored 25 goals for Aldershot in 1983/84, yet Vic Halom somehow persuaded him to join us, with Dale even parting with a fee! 18 games and 5 goals later, we sold him to Burnley for a profit! [Post edited 7 Jan 2020 21:48]

He wasn't up to much, but the team around him was pretty rubbish too. Fortunately we replaced him with Steve Taylor.

Why write him off now though. Just because he's an unproven kid. Jamie Vardy came through non league. Name someone you'd like Dale to sign.

I did. He was off limits. I suspect anyone I would mention would be.

Keaton Mulvey... on 22:33 - Jan 7 with 2724 views | kiwidale | When I read a new forward signing I thought yes we have acted quickly then to find out it was a youth signing, talk about deflated I was less than impressed. R'ger was only stating the obvious at no stage has he or me written the lad off but we are not holding our breath.

Where has it stated that this is THE striker signing of the window? From what I can gather, he’s been signed for the development set-up. He is referred to as a “prospect”. I’d be very surprised if Mulvey is the only forward we bring in this month.

Keaton Mulvey... on 22:49 - Jan 7 with 2631 views | jonahwhereru | Let me think! Sanchez, Lynch, O’Connell, McShane, Ryan and RND so far directly recruited by BBM. That is a an impressive list for a 1st year manager. I’d go as far to say he is due to make a misjudgment on a signing, as all managers at this level have to take a chance. Who knows if it’s a good or bad signing at this stage. It will be months before anyone of us can make any real assessment, cos he sure ain’t gonna be getting an extended run ahead of Wilbraham and Hendo any time soon. For the love of god at this stage BMM should have everyone’s trust when it comes to recruitment The only issue I have is his namesake Jennings wasn’t exactly a prolific score in these parts last year! Welcome Keaton and don’t worry most of us will give you a chance mate.

And more recently we brought in the multi-million pound man Zach Clough to save us. Mulvey is the exact sort of signing we should be making and it's great we can beat others to his signature. Let's he's another one who can go on to bag a load of goals and then make us some money.

The opening post said "new forward signed after impressing in trials" nowhere did I suggest it was to "THE striker signing of the window" that is your quote also nobody has said anything derogatory about the lad just expressed disappointment. I expect more additions to come but I am disappointed that 8 days into the transfer window we have so far signed a lad albeit one with promise. Would it be too much to expect that new players have been lined up before the window opened especially if its another loan, is this a case of waiting to see who is still available and cheap on Jan 30th.
