FAO over-60s 12:20 - Oct 10 with 7137 views | swanforthemoney | Just turned 60, done my bowel cancer screening test. The letter says there's a poor take-up amongst men. I bet there's a few on here have put the kit to one side and forgotten about it. Great free service. Do it - it could save your life.

That's just being silly, do the bloody test mun, it may save your life. Hopefully the wasted nine months won't be costly.

FAO over-60s on 15:11 - Oct 10 with 5635 views | SWANSEYE | Been doing it for many years now and it's well worth it for peace of mind. Trouble is people are frightened of the potential findings which is stupid as if detected early your life can be saved. So anyone who hasn't done it please take up the offer when it comes your way.
FAO over-60s on 15:19 - Oct 10 with 5617 views | Gowerjack | Routine testing discovered a cancer on my left kidney last year all sorted out and I'm good now. So as I said at the time get yourself checked out you've nothing to loose!

FAO over-60s on 15:27 - Oct 10 with 5595 views | lifelong | Been doing it for some time, also ask for a prostate blood test and general blood test once a year. You will take your car for a mot test every year, why not yourself? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I know. The most stupid thing is, I agree with you. I’ll put it in the bog to remind myself.

Glad to hear your OK. "So as I said at the time get yourself checked out you've nothing to loose!" in fact it's the exact opposite.

FAO over-60s on 20:21 - Oct 10 with 5399 views | TNT | 57, went to the Dr and asked for a routine test (believing it was available for over 55s) and she looked at me like I had two heads. In fact, I'd have probably had a better response had I asked her to look at my second head. So, is this bowel cancer test, prostate test for over 60s?

The bowel cancer test kit is sent to your home address every two years when you are 60 to 74.

Cheers mate. So there's nothing for over 55s? By the time I get to 60, the fkrs'll move it to 66. Bit like The Swans with STs mun.

FAO over-60s on 21:53 - Oct 10 with 5293 views | Lord_Bony | I begged my doctor for a colonoscopy but was refused and told I have to be over 60 and treated for IBS instead for nearly a year. When I finally got one they found a tumour in my colon that had already metastasized to the liver...stage 4. Nhs Wales sucks, anywhere else in the UK I could have had the screening.

I get the bowel cancer screening every 2 years and also the the finger up the bum for the prostate. It's not painful at all just a bit uncomfortable and would advise anyone to get it done.I think a camera up the hoop would be a bit more uncomfortable though

Bloody hell, that's scared me. doc thinks I may have developed IBS. I have had the bowel cancer screening, all the blood tests for liver etc and stool samples nothing found yet, thankfully.Maybe I should ask for the colonoscopy as i'm over 60

UK medical intervention is archaic now unfortunately. These and many other tests are offered free at age 50 and under in other countries. Not sure why the complacency/ignorance in the NHS/UK.
