It's Boris on 13:03 - Jul 28 by londonlisa2001 | I think they’re going to attempt to call an election with the timing being such that parliament is automatically in recess over the end of October, so the Brexit party are neutralised, yet the adverse effects of no deal won’t have hit for the campaign. I’m not sure how it can be stopped, or how anyone can achieve an extension while it happens if Johnson refuses to do so. |
Parliament has to vote to dissolve itself in those circumstances. If he made such a nakedly cynical attempt to ensure no deal in that way he won’t get the two thirds majority needed.

Don’t they only have a day or so after the recess to bring the timing issue into play? I’d always understood that the government has some flexibility over how long an election can take? The new system may have changed that? I’m just struck by the hints a few times now that Rees Mogg has made about ‘automatically falling out’ and ‘of course parliament is brought to an end by an election’.

Lol. You really are making yourself look increasingly desperate, as well as stupid.
It's Boris on 13:42 - Jul 28 with 724 views | monmouth | Indeed. I don’t think he really wants no deal anyway. He just wants to steal Farages clothes to make them irrelevant and increase his chances of a majority. I expect him to say he wants a mandate to hold the no deal gun to those bastardised foreigners heads and go for a snap poll before October while he has the bounce (Browns terminal error was to bottle out). That’s what all these ridiculous spending promises that he has no intention of honouring are all about.

I don’t think he wants a no deal. But I think he’ll do it if it keeps him in power. That’s the only thing he really cares about.

There is flexibility around the timing but if there’s any suspicion that Johnson’s trying to manipulate the timing in that way parliament will be wise to it.

So are you suggesting that no deal is still very much on the table? I mean anyone who’s suggested that on here over the last year has been ridiculed, laughed at and called all all thick c*nts going by that odious creature Warwick. One good thing that will come from a no deal is that it’ll show you lot up for being utterly clueless on the whole matter. Having said that, you’ve got every prediction wrong to date so I won’t hold my breath. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Nope. I said I think they may attempt to do that. I wasn’t personally sure how it would stopped in that particular scenario but ECB has explained how it will happen. As for the ‘every prediction wrong’ bit. So far I’ve predicted that we wouldn’t exit on March 29th, wouldn’t do so in April and there isn’t parliamentary support for no deal. Which of those is wrong? Your view that a no deal is somehow going to stick it to me is laughable. So far Boris has announced a series of promises that would financially benefit me no end. Huge increase in thresholds for higher rate tax, massive reduction on stamp duty. Some of us don’t support policies just because they benefit us but are concerned about the wider picture. All you care about is a mistaken belief you’ll see no immigrants coming to work here.

You didn’t predict those it was blatantly obvious to Everyman and his dog how that was going to play out. You give a new update of how it’s going to every week and it doesn’t happen. Anyway the point I was making was that you and your chins have ridiculed anyone mentioning no deal on this forum and here you are today mentioning no deal. * and I haven’t got an issue with immigration as such. Freedom of movement is what I want stopped and immigration should be on a needs must basis. Happy to clear that up for you. And anyone moving here to work should 100% have to speak the language. I’m saying what they may want to do, not what will happen. There have been people throughout that want a no deal. They do not have the numbers in Parliament.

It’s the Brexiters’ inherent inferiority complex.

Bizarrely, a few (not all, as, to be fair Bluey doesn’t fall into the category and neither does Jango) seem to get much more wound up about it coming from a woman.
