Yet another victim this afternoon. Totally out of hand.

There’s a theory that exclusions from school are responsible for this! When the culprits are caught and it is found to be that they are pupils who have been excluded then make the point, not before. It may well be the case but let’s have proof. And if it is the case, how are schools and the teachers supposed to deal with these feral youths?

Also, would more police on the streets be a suitable deterrent. We need more for sure but would it decrease or eradicate this problem?

So, if we reduced the police numbers further we wouldn't see a rise in crime? Let's do away with police altogether then we won't have any crime at all.

Reported crime would disappear.

You'd have to be pretty dumb to assume that the only reason for the explosion in knife crime is the hapless Theresa May's defunding of Police.

There's loads of reasons, of which that's just one, and far from the most responsible.

So what has changed then , apart from a reduction in police?

As a youth worker it’s obvious you have never been around under privileged kids your views are so dated and out of touch. Other than that, I enjoy your posts.

My apologies if I've shown ignorance in this, I'm happy for you to put me right.

What would you compare the knife crime statistics to, surely there must be some benchmark to declare that it's out of hand?

How about using previous years’ figures for the same areas?

Crazy, I know.

Wasn't it higher the previous year, when for a few months it overtook New York, but is now back below that? New York a comparable city has a much higher murderr ate

Hospital admissions for knife assault in England were lower last year than in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and. 2008.

That’s probably because they were taking them straight to the morgue rather than A & E.

Figures go up to March 2018 and September respectively.

Fancy a little wager on the 2019 figures when they come out?

It's only march, so it's a bit early to say, but the data shows that there are blips occasionally - let's hope so, anyway.

I'm no expert, but I would have thought they would have to be admitted to hospital for a doctor to decide That.I don't don't think paramedics can determine whether a patient is dead or alive , officially.

You seem rather sure about that. It needs to be stamped out with tough justice before it does.

Positive. I can’t foresee any circumstance where kids from Abergavenny, Bodmin or Penrith would suddenly start hacking away because of something they’ve seen on the telly.
