McGahey gone then on 15:04 - Jan 3 with 9233 views | DaleiLama | They got a good RB there. Hope they move him to RCB. Good luck Harrison …….. sorry to see you go, as I'm sure a lot more will be. Looking at the team totaliser, that's 3 fan favourites gone and counting in this window. [Post edited 3 Jan 2019 15:07]

On the face of it - yes But if McGahey has decided he's had enough of trying to forge a career somewhere he's not going to make any further headway, having a disaffected player is probably worse than not having him

McGahey gone then on 15:23 - Jan 3 with 9015 views | TomRAFC | Our only up to scratch centre back looking gone, our best midfielder gone, and (love or loathe) our only aerial presence seemingly on his way out. Are we trimming the wage bill or do players want out?

McGahey gone then on 15:28 - Jan 3 with 8935 views | NorthernDale | Totally agree, why sell out best CD to a relegation rival, what is the logic? The crucial question is what is our defence now? Rafferty Ntihe (who cannot defend, he is okay going forward) Delaney MJ Williams (who is not a centre half at present) McNulty (who is past it) Randall (who is not fit or from some accounts, not very good) Matherson (who is 16, inexperienced and still at school) No doubt KH will continue to think that being a genius who can transform sh*t into gold, he will transform an average midfielder, in to a good CD overnight. Our defence is poor at the best of times and that is being kind, so selling our best defender is a joke.

One would assume that defensive replacements would be arriving to supplement that list.

Didn't we lose our best left-back to a relegation rival last year?

I think we should wait and see who comes in before we start the doom and gloom scenario. It needed freshening up for a variety of reasons. That's happening, so we have to roll with it and see what happens. If Harrison wanted away, there's not a lot we could do to stop it. If he (or his agent) sees Stuart McCall as a better option, so be it. We will have a hefty fee and no doubt appropriate clauses.

Given that Cannon and McGahey were the last to sign new deals in the summer it’s no real surprise that they are two of the first out of the door when the next window opens. League position/form probably hasn’t helped, but the standard wage for a Scunny squad player is at least twice that of ours, so it’s not difficult to see why McGahey in particular would want to move. I’m sure there will be two or three names that Hill has on his list by way of replacement
McGahey gone then on 15:52 - Jan 3 with 8624 views | sweetcorn | I don’t see the mass hysteria this outgoing has caused tbh. Yes he was our best defender but that to me is like someone with HIV being smug to somebody who has aids. It doesn’t really mean anything. Harrison was great at covering back due to his speed and very rarely let people run past him, but he was hardly a rock from set pieces and we still shipped tons of goals with him in the side. If we got a good fee and sign some new blood then i’m not too downbeat about it.

So we're giving up on developing young players then - message there for Morley, Adshead and co. 'If' we got a good fee, 'if' we sign some new blood - don't get too upbeat just yet.
McGahey gone then on 16:03 - Jan 3 with 8507 views | EllDale | No doubt the fee will be "undisclosed". Shades of Done and Bunney in years gone by. I've hated this particular window since Grant Holt went in 2006.

We’re hardly in a position to be having someone developing at CB right now, we need experience at the back. And im not being funny but he’s 23 year old, we’re not talking about a kid. If selling players upsets you, you support the wrong club.

Mention of Holty reminds me of those players brought in, usually for small fees, who were able to regularly find the net before being sold for larger sums to bigger clubs: Rickie Lambert, Adam le Fondre, Glenn Murray, Chris Dagnall, Chris O'Grady ... I suppose the signing of Ian Henderson was the last in that line. Hope no bids come in for him!

Is hefty more than £250,000?

Totally agree with these comments. Those being critical of the fees being received for Cannon and McGahey should perhaps reflect that it was something of a surprise when both players re-signed last summer so at that stage any money received because of their ages would probably have been lower than the money being paid now. I would also have thought that one of the conditions of them staying was that should an offer for their services be made ,that the player would be informed and allowed to discuss the potential move
McGahey gone then on 17:12 - Jan 3 with 7927 views | EllDale | Has his value been affected by the fact that he is part of the worst defence in the division? You can be as fast as you like but he has been until recently a constant in a unit that can't defend set pieces which is a fundamental part of the job description.

McGahey gone then on 17:16 - Jan 3 with 7883 views | jonahwhereru | Mixed feelings on this one. Correct Harrison was our best defender, but everything is relative. He has played enough games in the worst defence in the league to tell me that this is not the worst bit of business the club could do. Ironically he is going into the second worst defence. Rather than being a bad move selling to a rival, he may become agent Mchgahey for us. The key is how do we invest the money. My preference is for a CB who over 200 league games under their belt and who can marshall’s A defence. Hill has known this has been coming for some time. I hope he already has a replacement lined up. Interesting times.
