The alternative is right wing policies, cuts to services, low wages, austerity for the less well off etc etc.

Where is the austerity especially the ones on benefits We have these bragging up in my local in what they can get from the state. Go to food banks so they can spend more up the pub and without cutting back on buying their cigarettes Most people working for a living can only go to the pub a few times a week but those on benefits are up there nearly every day People on low wages have only themselves to blame for not working hard to get a good education God help those that have wasteed 13 years of free education in the future. As there will be absolutely no jobs for them when Artificial Intellegence comes more on stream, not even at McDonalds Go to the Far East and see the emphasis that parents there, put on their children to get a good education, because they know what’s coming

People on benefits without children can be badly hit, but anyway its the tax dodgers that cost the country far more than benefit cheats. Not all people have themselves to blame for their education due to a variety of possible problems like home life, health, bereavement etc and of course not forgetting that lots of teachers are rubbish at their job. Oh good grief, we agree on something!! Tax avoiders cost this country billions. They are also the people using technology to cut jobs and make ever more profit. When I was young I was told technology would make our lives better. What they forgot to mention was that "our" only meant the top 5% and the rest of us would be left behind. It's still a puzzle to me that people with more money than they can ever spend are still fighting to make more and more profit. Where does it end, if history is anything to go by one day it could end at the gallows, when the people have had enough of the greed and corruption. A conspiracy theorist might suggest that education is being deliberately dumbed down to help keep the plebs in their place. What I do agree with though is getting a good education. Our son is 10 and has ambitions to be an architect. He will get all the help we can manage. He's ahead of the curve in school and gets fantastic reports, I live in hope. Ultimately, if he can't beat them (the rich and greedy) then maybe he can join the club!

Nailed it. Everyone's agreeing with everyone this morning. I was thinking about this in relation to some other pointless arguing on here, and this sentence sums up quite nicely what's underpinning a lot of the problems facing us and the discontent we've seen reflected in recent political events: "It's still a puzzle to me that people with more money than they can ever spend are still fighting to make more and more profit." Brexit is driven by this, and anti-Brexit is also driven by this. That's why both sides are digging their heels in and we're all played like fools arguing the case for tax avoiders and big business who couldn't give two monkeys about us. And those people do indeed do all they can to protect those profits. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

How pathetic a posting On the one hand you condemn the people that makes the money and then you go and say that your son wants to be an architect who then could possibly join them Condemn the money makers, but then it’s alright for someone in your family to be one of them How bizarre is that, or is it a socialist man’s thinking The political party of envy Because I haven’t much money then no one else must make money

The U.K. has the most complicated tax system in the Workd A lot to do when Gordon Brown was Chancellor of the Exchequer I have no problem with people that have money, hiring accountants to reduce their tax bill if it is legal If it’s not legal then by all means fine them to the hilt do it will make other think twice Now let’s look at tax dodging at a lower level Have you ever received cash in hand for any work you have done??? or even paid someone cash in hand that has done work for you. So that you that has received money or the person you have paid money to, doesn’t pay tax I suppose that doesn’t count in your eyes, even though hundreds of millions in £’s are lost because of what is being done because it is the politics of the envy

The last thing I would say that Brexit is driven by money So tell me if these people or institutions thats making so much money, where would the masses get their employment from So you must be another that thinks that money must be spread among the masses, but would they take the same risks as the people that make the money, I wonder Must be a Corbynister/ Marxist supporter to think it’s wrong to make money Another with the politics of envy

A small business owner who has no choice but to pay taxes, complains about multinationals avoiding taxes by using elaborate tax avoidance schemes with the profits ending up in tax havens - is that also an expression of the politics of envy in your book?
