McGahey
Williams
Thompson
Cannon
Morley
Kitching
Gillian

I've ignored loan players as they're out of our hands to some extent. But that's my stab at who we'll keep.

Poll: What are we more excited for?

Wasn't Jordan Williams signed on a two year contract? Also, there was speculation on here that McGahey hasn't been playing because he's refusing to sign a new contract, so that might be out of our hands as well.

Isnt morley on a two year deal ?

If the worse comes to the worst I would suggest the club takes a gamble and offers more to those who could be the more valuable future asset in the hope we bounce straight back up.

Half of those are loan players. And I find it hard to believe we'd spend £100K on Williams and only give him a one year deal. If the others are correct then, ignoring loan players, we should be doing all we can to sign up:

Cannon
McGahey

And also try and sign up:

Kitching
Morley

I'll trust Hill's judgement on:

Keane
Gillam

And I'd offer JT some kind of coaching role. The rest can be released.

Yep, I'd release him. He's a passenger for most of the season and when he does play he can offer moments of brilliant finishing, but when he's not doing that he's also a passenger. It's a shame he's not been fit for however long because he could be a great player.

I suppose a lot depends what division we will be in next season. I wouldn’t be so quick to discard him.

He won't bang many goals in whatever league we're in sat on his arse for 90% of the season, needs to shift a load of weight and can't get anywhere near match fit for fear of injury... get rid of him

I find it astonishing that Reece Brown is still here(as far as we know?) and robbing us of a wage?

Seems he last played a few minutes for us against bury, in August?

Surely he's working at Asda?

I've done a bit of research and I think the players out of contract are:
Canavan (not a bad backup option, maybe keep on small wages)
McGahey (in Football Manager we had a clause in our favour which allowed us to extend for a year, not sure if this is true though)
Brown (release, interesting as in the training pictures released recently he's not been in a single one, wonder if he's still at the club? No mention of otherwise)
Thompson (deserves another year in my opinion)
Keane (like has been said, depends how injury-prone he is, I think he's an important player when fit in that defensive mid role)
Cannon (get him signed up immediately, 2 years at least hopefully)
Kitching (think he's come on leaps and bounds, deserves another 2 years in my opinion to see if he can continue developing)
Gillam (I trust Hill with this one, we have an option in our favour to extend)

It's a bit unfair on Brown to say he is robbing us of a wage. If he's done everything he can to stay fit it's hardly his fault he hasn't played, it was Hill's poor judgement to sign him up.

I wonder if his goal v Spurs will have any bearing on offering him a new deal? That goal alone probably made the club over £250,000 from the replay at Wembley.

We keep coming back to the poor Summer recruitment and the probable reason for our present predicament....Hilly should have soon realised that Brown was never good enough {playing only a few minutes) and carted him off on loan.

I went to watch the mighty FC Halifax Town a couple of weeks ago......Brown just might have been capable of making their bench.

In order to 'cart him off on loan', someone needs to want him.

Indeed TVOS, a point which some people fail to acknowledge or understand. Sadly, there is no E-Bay for unwanted or less able professional footballers, let alone a place where thay can be 'dumped'.

I'm sure KH would acknowledge there were errors made last summer, but we are where we are. Raking over old coals is futile.

Doubtless, things will be different as this summer approaches, but not every signing is successful as all managers and supporters can testify.

He has said that Williams (at Lincoln) is 'one for the future' and that he has not given up on him. I expect to see him back, unless Lincoln make us an offer we can't refuse, or unless bids come from elsewhere.

Canavan, Brown, Keane, will probably (hopefully) all leave. Have offered nothing all season and will surely be sent on their way.

Loan players will be sent back, and with the exception of Humphrys, (or possibly Knott if he shows enough for the remainder of the season) I wouldn't pursue any of them, though I doubt we could land him anyway, without pushing the boat out further than we ever have previously - but never say never.

That said, regardless of where we spend money a striker is an absolute top priority. That is one area where have been seriously deficient this season, even allowing for defensive frailties. Had we had more (even fully fit) options up front, the story of the season could have been quite different.

I would make strenuous efforts to keep Harrison McGahey, who has improved immeasurably this season. He is a real asset if he continues to progress as he has.
Alongside him, surely we would seek to retain Cannon and, Kitching and perhaps Gillam and Morley, though the latter two will be a Keith Hill judgement rather than what we have seen.

Dan Adshead is also a must sign, as soon as the earliest date arrives. Joe Thompson should be offered a different role, whilst retaining his playing contract at the same time so he can begin to plan his future. He deserves that.

Those under contract will still presumably be here, those on loan will return from whence they came.
