I’ve heard a few people say you never fully get over it,especially at top level sport.

I’ve heard others say that’s nonsense.

We have fitness experts, financial experts but not sure if we have malaria experts here !

Something doesn't look right to me, seems slower than my great grandad! i thought the effects were not so long lasting but Bony seems to have lost quite a lot of his mojo.

He's gotta be hitting the ground running now, things are far too important in the team to get subbed on and look like we are playing with 10 men !

Exactly my thinking, the bloke is a waste of money...especially for our club where every penny and opportunity counts! We should have bought a decent player, not a purchase to keep certain fans happy

If he was so bad first time around why did man city pay £22m for him ?

Bony did well last time he was here, i thought he would do enough this time too, before his last injury he looked to be returning that way, since then Carlos IMO has found a better way to play with Jordan up top and supporting runners, i fear Bony could become a bench player and we all know he isn't designed to do that either

Every penny does indeed count for a club like ours.
This seems lost on our DOF who has lost 10s of millions in transfers and oodles more in sacked manager pay offs

Before his last injury he'd scored a few goals and just as importantly for me was having a big impact on games, more than Abraham had done in almost half a season prior to it. His fitness and in particular the time he takes to return to full fitness is obviously a big worry, but let's not re-write history. A fully fit and firing Wilfred Bony is one hell of a player - possibly the best forward in our history(?). Jury's out on whether we get to see that player in anything more than brief glimpses going forward though

Big Bob was our best ever and he was in the twilight of his career at the time

Bony when he first played for us was very good indeed ,but a lot of crap water has passed under that bridge ,he's now just that split second slower ,never-mind we live in hope

Lol.

Bony will come again in my opinion. If it takes time it takes time but he's the best striker we ever had and deserves our support to get back to his best. Only a fool would write him off.

Pound for pound yes. Trundle for starters if you're talking pound for pound, but I'm talking about doing it at the top level. I can't comment on Latchford because it was well before my time, but we've not had a better forward in the top flight this time around imo

Pace and work rate have never been what Bony is about. He holds the ball up well with his strength and has a good shot inside the box.
If we are not playing to his strengths then he is going to struggle.

He would have been a great signing for the old Swansea. Surrounded by two wingers and an attacking midfielder, Bony thrived. In other systems he just doesn't work. Unfortunately our current system (which is working) doesn't have a place for Bony's game.

Maybe Carlos has a game plan in different types of game that does suit him, but so far he looks as bad a fit for us as he did for Stoke.

It looks like our DOF is signing players to suit one style of play, while employing managers to play a completely different style. Which leads me to the belief that he's never known what he's doing from the off.

......and before the experts start going on about Ivor - if you weren't there don't bother. Dazzler gets a pass because he probably was there.

I remember thinking when he first came that his first touch was awful but he got going in the end though it took a fair few games. I also remember him getting frustrated because he was taken off only for someone else to get the credit for scoring after he'd softened up the defence. That aspect of his game seems to be missing now. Would he improve after a run of games? No idea, but I can't imagine that him catching malaria has helped.

Definitely.

Bony did pretty well last time round once he got going / or after Michu got injured, depending on which way you look at it. Would never say anything different.
But it was utter madness to bring him back this Summer, after almost 2 years sitting on the bench/in treatment rooms. It was yet another typical HJ clusterfuuck of a signing. It wasnt as if he wasnt aware of Llorente intentions of wanting to move on. Yet all he could come up with was Bony as a replacement.
I said it at the time and I say it again now. The guy is shot. Kinsey must have thought Xmas came early when the Res bet him he'd make double figures. Unless of course he was in fact on about appearances rather than goals....

What about players that weren’t forwards but played up front from time to time like Michu?
