Has the penny finally dropped 20:19 - Jan 19 with 8609 viewsthornabyswan

10 million extra for transfers if you believe the spin.
Free travel to Notts County.
Price reduction for online booking fees.

My guess is season ticket renewals are way down.
Couple that with the terrible crowd against Wolves and the negativity at the club.
I think the owners are rattled.

£30 million is pathetic, given the position we are in, considering the transfer fees for Siggy and others too numerous to mention, we should have a budget of at least double that.

I agree.
But it's their loss £120 million of it.........

Thanks for stating the obvious. Typical revisionism regarding Laudrup and Bayram, who set the precedent for the club dealing with lecherous agents rather than scouting suitable players.

On the subject of transfers, there's no point in expensive loan deals or short term contracts for potential impact players. Time to have a long term strategy and strengthen obviously weak positions like full-back with players who would be top level Championship standard. If they can help this season then great but it's time to be realistic about the club's position.

Prem status...........no ?
We,re only 4 points of 17 with 15 games to go,How long do you think it would take us to get back to where we are now if we drop to the championship ?

And operating loss after operating loss.

Up until 2015 we'd actually been turning profit after profit.

Agree with what you say, and the little gems are still out there, but the higher the standard the harder it becomes, basically you get what you pay for in the Premier League, and I am in no way even advocating spending 30 million, we need to be building a solid squad in readiness for the championship

Disagree. We're not down yet. Let's give Carlo a chance. There's £25m there, the transfer surplus from the summer. Just make sure he gets the players he wants. He''ll know a darn site more about spotting a player than the Yanks or Jenkins.

The profits have generally come as a result of transfer profits offsetting operating losses, yes.

Next time you want to bum me in an alleyway at least do me the courtesy of showing up, Phil.

And have a word with Loh next time you're rimming each other over a Garnet Mimms record about his drunken racism. Not a good look for either of you.

You need to tone down your latent homosexuality on here, Newp. It's becoming obsessive.

Wolves gave free travel and there were plenty of comments along the lines of our lot used to do that.
When they do offer free travel we moan.
There is so much negativity flying about when they do try and do something good people are cynical.
Season tickets are still good value as is the price of away tickets.
The downside is the shocking summer window and Jenkins still being here.
Can't be easy attracting players in our position.
But I do think we are trying.

We could have another £50m "in the pot" unless we spend it and spend it wisely it's not worth a cup full of cold p1ss.

That's true Newcastle and QPR spent a fortune and still went down.
All transfers are a gamble though.

Dodgy agents were around long before ML.
Revisionism? Yes indeed. Many of the 'in Huw we Trust' brigade have had a massive rethink.
I was a huge ML fan but even I baulked at the thought of selling Ash and Michu to get the funds to move forward. Hindsight eh?
The Doc has it dead right for me. It is how you spend the money that counts. Not the amount, although it has to be realistic.
As regards agents? Well they are here to stay until the Premier League does something about it.
In the meantime it is a case of 'beat them or join them'.

There is definitely something going on.
Jenkins will be gone soon enough.
It's noticeable on here though if they announce something positive like the free away travel for next week nobody bats an eyelid.
Anything negative like the £2.50 booking fee and the responses are high.

Your right there mate.
If I am not watching the Swans I go and watch Darlington when I can.
Just been on there forum and there are 40 supporters at the ground now trying to clear the snow to get the game on today.
We are moaning that we are only spending 20 or 30 million on players.
We were in the same league not so long ago.
Yes I think the sellouts sold us all down the river.
And I want them out but watching Darlington does give me some perspective.

Probably the majority of those moaning were not there then fella.

I watched with envy the Newport / Leeds game a few weeks back & thought to myself I had far more pleasure watching us in the lower leagues than I do with all this PL shite.

I know people say you strive to get to the PL (which we do), but the moaning hangers on associated with it does my head .

Negativity?
Or is it a case how low the opinion of the owners has got?
I read in the past that the club don’t budget for any cup run, It’s a bonus if it happens. Don’t know if that’s still the case.
If so, then as well as taking 45% of the Wolves away game we also got £67,500 for qualifying.
The club is now going to spend £10,000-£15,000 on free travel depending on the take up with a further potential bonus of £90,000 if we qualify
Good gesture, or a P.R. stunt that in the big picture costs very little?

10 million extra on top of what though.
it should be on top of 30 million

Ok the continued cynic in me.

We don’t know what the original figure available was. We are now told another £10m is to be made available. We never know the full cost of a transfer so who knows what will get spent?

Already CC has said that it is very difficult to entice players to come here. So what does the club do? Tell the whole football world including agents that is another £10m in the pot.
