The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 17:57 - Sep 11 with 1778 views | magicdaps10 | Far better second half. The first half showed that we should never play three at the back. Good battling point and showed what pace can bring to the team after we brought on Barrow. Fer is an interesting player, bags of potential but lazy as anything and more suited in the no 10 role. Could be we go with him at no 10 and Siggy and Barrow out wide. Ki was far better second half.

Defense is still a concern. We are yet to keep a clean sheet. Taylor's behaviour was disgraceful. Costa should have seen a second yellow for his dive. Well done lads! Oh, I hope we never see 5-3-1-1 again! [Post edited 11 Sep 2016 17:59]

Anyways, all in all I m pleased we turned it round 2nd half and came out fighting. We look slick and lethal when we try and have the attitude. Feeling more optimistic for the coming season now, especially with a match fit Baston in the squad...starting to look good again.

Glad to see Fer have a tremendous game after defending him earlier on in this thread against all the negative comments being sent his way. The formation didn't work. Barrow, I think, is becoming more and more important to the first team. Taylor's attitude at being taken off was shocking as well considering he gave the ball away countless times and offered nothing in the final third. Kingsley hopefully should be first choice. Glad to see Amat give as good as he got against Costa even though he was lucky to stay on the pitch, I don't know what happening with our centre halves but they aren't half scary to watch. Anyway, considering we were awful for the majority of that its good to get a point. Up the Swans!

A lot of what he is doing is distracting defenders and holding up the ball.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 17:56 - Sep 11 by swansea101 | Chelsea absolute threw everything they could at us at the end...and didn't score, maybe our defence isn't as bad as we thought. I'm not saying that its all roses, but perform like that every week and we'll win more than we lose |
Yes it is. Much better performance second half. In a funny way, perhaps a draw will help keep a sense of reality in how much work still needs to be done following an abject first half

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 18:17 - Sep 11 with 1376 views | monmouth | OK..and breathe. A less emotional view than the ones I've been posting. We tried a new formation that the players aren't used to against a superb team (if the most horrible scummy team ever). They were all at sea. It was a mistake, but we've now tried it and seen it. That mistake gave Chelsea a shitload of momentum and our players heads were unable to cope. That's one game. Then the second game. We go back to what we know with a bit of pace and width, but still keep a strong midfield presence. We look better. We go toe to toe and both sides could easily have won it. Chelsea still on top on points of course but what would anyone expect, look at their teamsheet. All in all we tried something, found it's no answer and still got ourselves out of jail against an excellent team who, after seeing that will certainly be challenging the Mancs. They are better than I thought by a long way. Final opinion. Great point. Well pleased, Drink needed. Bring on Soton.

Jordi Amat, had a good game. Did not give Costa a minute and both players will have gone off the pitch today knowing they had a tough old battle against each other.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 18:19 - Sep 11 with 1345 views | jackrabbit | Some after-thoughts: I don't blame Taylor. Where was he supposed to be playing and what was he expected to do? I had the feeling Guidolin had him mixed up with Montero - constantly switch the ball out to him on the touchline and he'll run past the defender and put in a perfect cross. Er, no. He's a full back, a good defender, but a limited attacker. Time Franco realised that. I get impatient with people criticising Fer and Ki - who are together with Gylfi, the most skilled footballers in the team. We have players who do not have good enough skills for the PL, but those three players, plus Barrow, are not in that group. Llorente obviously has talents but they are not being properly utilised. Fabianski is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League - compare him with 'Juliet' Bravo of Man City yesterday. He saved us again today. In summary, 10 out of 10 for the grit and fight that we showed second half, but when all is said and done, we lack quality all over the field, and we need strengthening. I am not impressed with Guidolin's reading of the game, and his use of substitutions. He was lucky today. Anyway - phew! Great point. On to Southampton next week.

FG Lucky and doesnt read the game well? He realised it wasnt working after 35 minutes, pulled off the left back and changed the shape back to a more sensible one. A lot of managers wouldnt have done that.

The Official Swansea City Versus Chelsea FC Match Thread on 18:39 - Sep 11 with 1127 views | londonlisa2001 | Started reasonably ok - heads dropped after their goal (really need to see if Mawson or VDH can play instead of FF), knew that we needed to change, took the right player off (Taylor - grow up). Second half played with pride and purpose. Of course we were not in their class - of course we were not - only an idiot would expect us to be. But we fought for everything and did incredibly well, much better than I expected us to do. Guidolin was decisive in making an early change (when Mourinho does such things, he is lauded) and a team which will probably finish in the top two found that we are no pushover. Look at how irritated they all were - Costa and Conte in particular. We should really take heart from that. As an aside, Amat did as well against Costa as anyone does. Ki and Fer really started to click (have to remember they've had no preseason together and haven't played since more than a few minutes) and Barrow did well. Siggy is getting back to himself again, and Kingsley and Naughton did well given the quality of their opposition. Put Baston into that mix, and try one of the other centre half options, and we may be starting to get somewhere. Really pleased with that result. There'll be miles bigger and better teams than us lose to them at home by a mile this season.
