No it's not, they had the re- brand last season to and they had 26000 every home game. The re- brand now is just an excuse, let's see how many turn up next time if they draw Chelsea.

Fact my friend. Planned protest.

dgt is perfectly correct.

This "planned" protest, which is of course bollocks, just happened to be for a gave which would have a low attendance anyway, happened to be on a cold Friday evening and televised.

Clearly a shining example to all for the future, there. Unions will be taking notes.

Indeed; it's the lowest for a competitive game at CCS.

Ninian Park had lower; both us and Jacks had p*** poor attendances at lowest level. Funny that.

From memory, our lowest was 761. League Cup game against Millwall, terrible storm - moved to back of Bob Bank, still got soaked. Earnie's debut, as a sub. Came on, shoulder charged Nigel Spink and flew backwards about six feet.

Yeah. Froze various bodily parts off.

Thought the side looked better having adopted a 4-2-3-1 formation; Adeyemi and Ralls the deeper two, Whitts behind Macheda with Harris and Noone wide. Still did look nervous at times, but a better performance. I'd say keep the formation, change personnel.

John, Adeyemi and Harris all had good games; Ralls was effective at what he had to do. Macheda was anonymous - could be interesting to see if Mason could play that lone striker role.

We need more pace in that side though.

Well that's surprising that he changed formation for a league one side where he has stuck more or less to the same set up for the last 5 league games? Haven't seen any of the game so cant comment on the performance. Hope we draw a big prem side next and hope for the same attendance.

Well, I suppose this would be a game to try things out. Was surprised there weren't more youth players even on the bench.

Can see why he's been using 4-4-2. It's a system all players should be familiar with, gives a base to work things out, assess the squad more easily. In theory and indeed my opinion. Tonight, admittedly against weak opposition, seemed some of the players played better due to being more suited to the formation. John wasn't tested as much defensively as usual but was quality going forward. Adeyemi showed his qualities.

Adeyemi should not have been taken off Sunday, we didn't have a lot of better players, in fact he was the one and no wonder the crowd reacted when he went off.

Well 442 is a system if you have the right players but if he changed it tonight and the players felt more comfortable with it, I reckon your a genius and you have answered your own question.

Not true.

I decided to break with years of tradition and join arm in arm with my brethren down the M4. For one night, they were not the vermin; not the scum. Now, they can add me to the roll call of those who boycotted the game tonight. :)

Sorry for the short reply - your post deserves better but typing on a phone ....My opinion is quite simply

IN THE TRUST I TRUST

Of course and long may we have one in place.I think they'll come around to the idea of outside investment eventually though if they haven't already. They're fans like us and whereas we should never forgot what nearly happened to us a decade or so ago the club is a completely different animal now because of it i believe. We learned the hard way but learning the hard way is sometimes the best way as to get back to the top you have to hit the bottom and we did and fortunately for us everyone involved at the time is still here and will remember it like all Jacks do.That's why if the board is seeking investment then we have to believe it for the good of the club and not to line shareholders or board members pockets cashing in while our stock is high.People will always think that, I know I did myself at first but these people are real fans of the club and proved so when bailing us out all those years ago and now want to see us go to the next level, something we're capable of as well. It's our 4th season in the PL and we're pretty much at the same level as we were in our first season apart from Bony.Vorm was brilliant for us and as good as Fabianski in our first season up here, our wingers and AM are the same players and nearly all our defence is as well.Leon is still here as well, so in 4 years we haven't progressed a great deal in the league and look like going the same way again, mid table, which is great as we all know but some people are ambitious and want and think we can get better.

Maybe our board now want more and feel investment from outside is the only way of doing it.We'll sell Bony for 30-40 million, which is fantastic business on the surface. But then we have to replace him and we won't be spending 30 million in trying to do so.We'll take a chance on someone and spend 15-20 million at a push and what's the chances of him being as good as Wilf and him scoring the goals to keep us as a mid table side? Gomis isn't going to improve us or score more than Wilf so we'd have to take a punt on someone else. For us to get a player like Bony again we'd either have to get lucky once more or spend huge on a proven goalscorer who'd command huge wages as well, obviously.

This is why the investment is being sought I believe. If we want a bigger stadium and a side that can challenge the top 6 and qualify for Europe, something we're not a million miles from doing but far enough from, then we need other players of Bony's calibre and others around him to be of a similar standard.Gylffi is up there as was Michu.Montero was great business and looks great thus far but will get found out if not this season but next season for sure.He has great pace and looks fantastic so far but defenders will learn quickly enough how to team up on him and he'll be just like Dyer was and is now and struggle to beat his man and get a cross off.We paid mental money for Wilf at the time and that's what you get for that sort of money,a world class player or a potential one. We'll need this investment to keep buying these type of players and to push on from being a 11-15th position side each season to a 6-8th placed side.

Some fans are cautious and rightly so and will think my post is bollox and I wouldn't blame them but the people who run our club are looking like they want us to push on again and not be content with mid table each season and not really improving but standing still.

I suppose a Cardiff thread is a very strange place to talk about this, but in a way of course it isn't.
Tonight we saw ,to my mind,a warning.
You are of course quite right to praise everyone connected with Swansea City over the last ten plus years. Original investors put their money into the club without any real certainty that they would ever see a return on that money again.Expectation for those investors and fans alike grew with success.
Cardiff on the other hand, over roughly the same period, have continually expected success.
The £1m that has backed Swansea's success is peanuts compared to the money that has been put into Cardiff.
Sam Hamman saw Cardiff as a Top Premiership,or indeed even a top European side ,even when they were in the lower leagues. From the beginning he stated that...we are bigger than Barcelona etc.
In the same way that Swansea's investment couldn't compare with Hammans,so Hammans cannot compare with Tan's.
Cardiff financially were in a perilous position when Tan took over. His investment in Cardiff has been enormous. He has paid off all their debts.
As far as the fans are concerned this virtually doesn't matter.
The clubs success or otherwise on the field is all that matters.
To the average Cardiff fan the club's present position of being mid table in the Championship is a disaster.there is only one person to blame for that, and that of course is Vincent Tan.
He is the man that took over a club that was destined for the very top in British and European football, and it hasn't happened.
There are now calls for Hamman to come back and take the club over, for God's sake!
Expectation is everything.Reality is 4175 turning up for an F A Cup game.
So how does this compare with Swansea's situation.
Financially, all the original investors in Swansea have done very well. All have received dividends totalling three times their original monies.
Is it right that some should now expect more.Is it right that they should make a killing.
In the world of reality one could justify it.
However on expectation levels one would have to say no.
These men were not originally investors. Their investment and the clubs success has been built not on expectation levels as at Cardiff, but a sense of wonderment and pride as achievement followed achievement.
Any sale of shares to anyone but true Swansea fans would break that magical ingredient.
It is important to realise that these Americans are no differen t to your Hammans and Tans. They are investors, pure and simple. They have the history. There are also the doubts in their CVs regarding dubious involvements in their past.
To trust that those people who have run our club are doing the right thing by selling to these Americans simply because they have not let us down in the past is naive.
Whoever sells their shares are doing it for personal gain and not for the future good of Swansea City.
It is likely that for every year that we are in the Premiership the current investors will continue to have their financial rewards in dividends at least equal to their original investments. Those that are already doing so will receive wages ,and contracts will continue with their individual firms,if appropriate.
The sale of shares is pure greed, and not based on any original principles.
If anyone reading this is naive enough to think that the Americans will be happy to continue with a minority interest in the same way that the other directors have been, then their expectation levels are I am sorry to say as exaggerated as those of the average Cardiff fan.
For those who think it would be a step forward for our club to be owned by American investors ask yourself one question. Is it worth the risk.
Do we really want to end up with 4000 watching an FA Cup home game .

It was not planned.

A few chavs gobbing off does not a planned protest make.

Big effect on the gate? C'mon. Lower league opposition, Friday night game with the game televised, having been playing like shoite recently.
Plenty of people I know don't attend the early stages of either cup and haven't for years - are you claiming they are planned protesters?

Bournemouth league cup was what 6.4k, was that also a planned protest?

If we'd drawn say Man Yoo, the attendance would have been a lot higher and you know it.

Why should I boycott? The time for protest was years ago, not now. Situation is too far down the line for protests to have any major effect.
