Demetriou signed a two-year deal last September after impressing coaches at The City Ground whilst on trial, and Forest are keen to tie him down with a long-term contract.
The Cyprus Under-21 international joined from Australian side Sydney Olympic and has recently demonstrated a goal scoring touch for the Forest reserves, bagging five goals in six appearances.
It is thought that the striker is held in high regard by Forest staff, who may have influenced the decision to offer him a longer contract. It seems the Championship outfit are offering more opportunities to its upcoming youth players as of late.
It will be interesting to see whether Stuart Pearce, who is set to begin his role as Forest manager in July, will continue this trend of utilizing the current crop of young talent held within the Reds' ranks.
Why are we spending more money adding highly rated youngsters to our growing development/u21 side?
DYSS has already declared that such signings are too costly and pointless. Every player will turn out to be not good enough because Rory Donnelly is not good enough.
Meanwhile the sane view is: looks promising, hope he does well, welcome to the club.
It's a shame the local lads in the under 21s aren't cutting the mustard, this is why we have to go out getting these youngsters, good to see.... I think this one was a free as well which is a bonus
Looks a lump of a boy . Good signing IMO .what we are doing now is no different to what Southampton and others have been doing for ages, buying good young prospects to supplement what we already have .
If we sign 10 and one of them comes off then your looking at making multi millions and the system then pays for itself.
We could argue that Joe and Ben have paid for all the infrastructure anyway, getting £25m for those two dwarfs what we would make selling bony for £30m which puts it all in perspective.
Keep looking for the hidden gems init.
Side issue, Anyone think that lee Lucas was the better prospect out of him and Joe ? Seemed to be a bit unlucky IMO

Yes, but Dwight has said that each one of these youngsters is paid £1 million a year, so that sort of blows your theory out of the water. 10 youngsters x £1,000,000 x 4 years = £40 million.

We'd need 2 of them to come good then. Very good
so we are paying the kids £19k a week? best we don't tell the 1st that
Looks like a free transfer which can't hurt. Our U-21 side is looking pretty good atm and surely can only improve with the addition of this player and Barrow as a winger (if he comes).

Lol .
Imagine us paying the youngsters a million a year! No wonder none are coming through, they already made it!
I'd say about 2k a week is the maximum and i guess the likes of donnely would be getting that purely because he had offers from elsewhere and brenden perhaps wanted to push the boat out. though IMO most would be on well under a grand a week.
Wasn't Ben earning 400 quid a week while playing in the first team?
