Today (20th January 2014) marks the 140th anniversary of the birth of Steve Bloomer, the Rams' greatest player, who remains one of the most prolific goalscorers in football history. Steve was born in Cradley, West Midlands; his family moved to Derby for employment when he was 5 years old. 2014 (on Saturday, Oct 4th 2014) will see another 'Cradley Day' heritage festival - which is held every two years in Steve's birth-place. Active Rams fans will again be presenting a Bloomer display at this festival, marking 10 years of our participation. The locals there are justly proud of Steve's legacy and always welcome the Derby tribute to the great man as part of their celebrations. This season also marks the 120th anniversary of Bloomer's ascendancy to become Derby's top goalscorer, which he achieved in season 1893-94. That was a position he went on to hold for a further 12 seasons in a row - an incredible statistic. The Rams finished 3rd in the League table in 1893-94. Keep the legend alive!
