Pompey hit a purple patch at Crawley

Pompey came through their pre-season visit to Crawley with a 2-1 win.

Gareth Evans and Tom Naylor scored and the scoreline could have been bigger as Kenny Jackett's team, in their new purple away kit, bossed their League Two hosts.

Mason Bloomfield scored a late consolation for Crawley.

Paul Downing struck the woodwork with a header before Pompey took the lead midway through the first half when Naylor and Marcus Harness set up Evans for a diving header that beat the keeper.

Ross McCrorie and Ronan Curtis both had dangerous moments for the men in purple and Naylor might have made it two before the break.

It was 2-0 six minutes into the second half when Lee Brown teed up Naylor to score.

Ellis Harrison had his moments up front for Pompey while Ollie Palmer was a threat for Crawley.

Bloomfield pulled one back with a fierce shot before the usual raft of changes made for a disjointed end to the game.
