Saints will have to sweat on how serious the injury was to Jordy Clasie that forced him out of Thursday night's win against Vitesse.
Jordy Clasie was forced to limp out of the win over Vitesse at St Mary's on Thursday night on the hour mark with a hamstring injury and Saints will have to sweat on how serious it is.
Ronald Koeman confirmed the problem in his post match interview.
"Clasie did well," the Southampton boss said. "He had a good help of (Victor) Wanyama, who was outstanding and that makes it more easy for Clasie.
"Pity he had some hamstring problems and we have to wait to know what happened."
The good news is that Saints 3rd goal means that with a good lead to take to Holland Clasie can perhaps be rested for that game so now has ten days rest before the Premier League opener at Newcastle.
Koeman has plenty of options to replace Clasie and will have at least two extra options to his squad for the Premier League start in Jay Rodriguez and Steven Caulker with Ryan Bertrand coming in later.
As a direct replacement for Clasie to sit in midfield alongside Wanyama, he has Steven Davis, James Ward Prowse and Harrison Reed all able to do that role, so it is an unwanted problem and not a crisis.
