What I.Saw - Can You Manage?

Those that know the East Stand at Pride Park understand it’s the perfect suntrap ideal for deckchairs. Whilst over in the cooler more reserved West Stand a couple of comfy sofas and rugs to keep out the cold might be more appropriate.

So let’s rip out those purpose built seats and throw in whatever we have to hand, after all it makes as much sense as the Team Selection on the pitch.

A quick recap, our streak of sixteen points out of six matches ended when James Bailey was taken out of the side and replaced by Super Lightweight Kid Tom Carroll from Spurs. With SLK we managed four points out of a possible twenty one (and two of those four came after SLK had been substituted).

Hardly a hero.

Super or otherwise.

Good one Harry!

Consider losing a left back, break up a successful centre pairing, move Jason Shackell over. Play your most creative midfielder at right full back despite having bought a full back from Mansfield.

Need I go on?

Going on before, the scene was set with our manager stating he wanted fifty points by the end of March, that’s four points from six matches.

Blimey what a target, what ambition!

What are we paying our money for?

Oh f**k, they’ve already had that let’s go home now then shall we?

Unsurprisingly, Watford needed little invitation to exploit a ramshackle defence where the right hand and the left didn’t know what they were doing.

Two goals down after fifteen minutes, Sean Murray side footed the first home and Troy Deeney with a deflection for the second.

Eventually our back four became a unit rather than individuals but by then it was too late.

Ben Davies floated in a free kick to give us hope on the half hour.

Hope that blossomed slightly with the news that Carroll wouldn’t be coming out for the second half. And if rumours are true then our starlet will be heading back down South having not played the required number of minutes.

Our blooming blossom withered when Nathan Tyson and not Bailey came out, it was hard to imagine anybody being more ineffectual than SLK but Tyson in a withdrawn LHS of midfield succeeded admirably. Highlights on the TV would later show his one positive contribution of a cross into the six yard box.

Considering Tyson had a half to flop around in, the addition of Bailey with two minutes to go produced our best chance of the game as his hard low shot on target was kept our by the Hornets defence.

As it was we ended the match with Barker upfront trying to win the long ball, kids, goalkeepers and jumpers our managerial Plan B.

After wards our manager said on Radio Derby he didn’t know why the Rams started so slowly. He didn’t know why we were better later on either.

If I told my boss I didn’t know what was wrong and I didn’t know how to put it right, I’d be looking for another job.

Only two things now matter, the first is we don’t lose (a win would be great but a draw a relief) on Tuesday to the Florists and that we Bank a holiday victory on Monday the 9th April.

Our opponents? - Those Dirties of Leeds.
