According to local newspaper Sunnmørsposten, Derby are interested in signing out-of-contract striker Geir André Herrem from Norwegian club Bryne.
Bryne play second tier football in Norway and finished 9th in the recently finished season.
Herrem is only 22 years old (turns 23 in January) and has been offered a new contract with Bryne which he is currently considering and has agreed with the club to make a decision by the end of this week.
Norwegian top club Viking has also declared their interest but most interestingly for Rams fans is a quote to the newspaper that reads:
"I can confirm that Derby show a relatively large interest in Herrem. I don't have anything else to add to that."
Herrem scored 10 goals in the last 10 matches for Bryne this season but this RamZone reporter follows Norwegian football closely and he's completely unknown to me, having never been talked of as a big talent in Norway that I'm aware of.
It's hard to compare but there's probably not a huge difference between the Norwegian top division and the Championship but there is a vast divide between the first and second division in Norway. That would make a move to Derby a huge step up for Herrem to take.
But a young striker coming to the club for free and most likely on a very low wage, wouldn't be too big of a risk to take for Nigel Clough anyway.
