Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?

For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?

Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.

Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

Also, Danny Rohl to Southampton in the summer a done deal according to all in Sheffield.

I’ve heard that Danny Rohl has called Ronnie Edwards a right c**t, useless and says he looks a plays like a girl

Can someone let Ronnie and his Agent know please?

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

Just gone 1 up!
Imagine where we’d be with a regular goal scorer!

Showing us we have nothing to fear next Saturday . If we match Leeds in desire and battling which is what Portsmouth are doing then they don’t look quite so great . Fans have to be loud and aggressive and Leeds don’t like . We saw that in May.

Dozzell having a cracking game to be fair to him

If Leeds lose to Millwall in midweek, then it would make them very nervous come Saturday lunchtime - And I am sure they will have last seasons result on their minds. If we manage to have fully fit options then anything can happen as it often does in this league

Only bad thing about Leeds bottling it is the teams who overtake them. Would be good if Sunderland could pick up and close the gap.

I'm sure he took note when we played them. It hasn't made much difference! Portsmouth are a better side currently and will be above us in a week.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Portsmouth have half their first team out injured yet still beat Leeds keeping up their great home form. We lose a few players and can't cope particularly in the strikers department.

Looks like Coventry were justified replacing Robins with Lampard. Quite staggering he has won 9 out of the last 10. All these added time goals they have been getting has made them shoot up the table.

Lampard is doing a very good job so far. Maybe found his managerial level.

There were a few things going on at Cov.

Firstly, they always start badly and come on strong. Or certainly have for the last few years. We had them fourth in our season preview. That group of players was underperforming significantly.

Secondly, Robins and his assistant fell out over the summer, and it was the assistant who did a lot of the heavy lifting by most accounts. It's why Robins hasn't moved the needle at Stoke. Why Stoke should have been more wary about that appointment.

Maybe Lampard is a better manager than many gave him credit for, but it was a really nice job to walk into at a well run club with a great recruitment team and a group of players you wouldn't have to do much with to get them performing significantly better than they were.

In fairness we had a really good run too where everything went for us, particularly at home. And thar was when we had injuries too. At that time things happened to go for us: balls pinged off opponents into our path, shots went off the post and in, decisions by refs went in our favour. That can’t last but while it does all your players get into a really confident groove. At the moment fine margins just aren’t going our way. Other teams are getting soft pens and FKs against us, last minute goals against us are going in while ours aren’t. It eats away at your confidence and you play with less swagger than we did in our purple patch when we were moving the ball much quicker.

I know it’s controversial because he has got so many assists but I’d be tempted not to start Chair on Tuesday and have Saito starting. I think he moves the ball quicker and will be better for a more aggressive start. Hopefully Varane will be back and I’d drop Colback too. I know he’s v
popular but I think he passes the ball backwards too much and is a liability particularly in our box and giving away cheap free kicks. I prefer him coming on later in the match when we’re (hopefully) protecting a lead when he can be very effective.

The same Saito who has a grand total of two goals and two assists in 35 games !

He's another player who looks good but ultimately doesn't do anything in the final third

It did help that we had a favourable set of fixtures through November and December, but they were the types of games we lost earlier in the season.

I know I said it was controversial and I’m not saying it’s right but I think Saito helps us to start on the front foot and pushes up the pitch more. It’s not just about goals you get it’s goals you concede and if you’re static you put much more pressure on the midfield/defence. I’d just bring Chair on later when we’ve established a bit more of an attacking intent.

I might be totally wrong of course and Chair will start tonight and get a goal and a couple of assists..,

Meanwhile has the Leeds annual choke started again?

I think it's more of a minor wobble; Millwall will give them a game on Wednesday night but we'll probably lie down for them on Saturday.

Anyway would be very funny if it happened all over again!

Poll: How old is everyone on here?

Against a team with a severely weakened defence you’d think what they don’t want is pace and balls in behind. Doubt they’d mind Chair playing about slowly in front of them. They certainly wouldn’t mind him constantly dropping back to the halfway line to then slowly start an attack.

Yes that’s kind of where I am with him atm. When he’s at his best he’s unplayable but he’s just that bit too slow probably because he’s missed pre-season and he’s a bit prone to playing it slowly anyway.
