Saints On Verge Of Signing Spanish Striker Monday, 27th Jun 2016 15:36 According to latest reports in Spain, Saints are on the verge of completing a move for a striker from Tenerife, will he fare better than the now departed Juanmi. The player in question is called Alexander Mesa Travieso or Nano for short and appears to be one for the future rather than ready to step straight into the first team. The 21 year old has been wanted by both Aston Villa and Newcastle United, but according to Spanish newspaper Marca, the player has flown into England and is about to sign for Saints. Nano came into the main Tenerife squad in the Secunda Division this season and has been a revelation, scoring 14 goals in 35 league games, indeed if you look at his minutes on the pitch then his strike rate is a goal every 134 minutes. Saints clearly believe he has something even though he has not done it in the top division in Spain. From descriptions he appears to be very much in the mould of Juanmi who signed for Saints a year ago and left at a loss at the end of the season, but Saints clearly believe that this youngster has a little more about him than Juanmi. Certainly he seems under the radar of most clubs at the moment, but Saints look ready to take a low cost gamble on him after watching him numerous times. Will he turn out to be a little gem or will it be a case of another Juanmi ? We will perhaps soon find out !
