| News Comment | Graham Potter Lined Up For Southampton Job at 11:18:34
Results this weekend were not the best for us. Everton winning, now with their future seemingly sorted. Leicester showed why they are unlikely to be relegated. A fine performance from them at a Top 3 side. Ipswich have only lost 2 games, city, and Liverpool, Top 3 Sides, and drawn 4. At times yesterday they out battled Villa, and Liam Delap looks to be the kind of Striker that we should have gone for. He's capable, and his Goals might keep Ipswich up. Ironically, Ipswich's lucky point against us was a game they should have lost, but for our inability to score enough goals, and see out games. I have a feeling that we will Win tonight, and move up to 16th. Hoping for a good performance with us seeing out the game. As for Potter, I would like to see him here, should RM oversee many more 'Suicide Football' disasters, ( It's not just us, Chelsea conceded a couple of needless goals Saturday, but had a quality finisher to win the Game ) Ten Hag will be on his way soon, and I'm sure that Potter will have eyes on that Appointment. Regardless of whether he comes here or not, with fixtures against Arsenal, Leicester, and City up next, we really need to beat B'mth Potter is the guest on Sky's Monday Night Football tonight. Those mischievous Sky Presenters, and Pundits, might know something we don't😂 |
| News Comment | German Club Agree Deal For Southampton Defender at 18:15:05
He couldn't wait to abandon Ship when we were relegated, quoting his need to play at the highest level,to aid his International ambitions with Germany. It didn't work out for him. I'm glad he's out back to Germany. We march on. |
| News Comment | Back To Stripes Back To Reality For Southampton at 14:20:02
Agree with ericofarabia, don't like the plain red backs of the shirts at all. I'm a traditionalist, Red and White Striped Shirts can't be too difficult to produce can they ? I agree that in these days of marketing, and the introduction of a 'new' shirt every season it does limit the creation of new designs. I started watching The Saints in 1960, the era of Reeves, Paine, Sydenham, etc. I'd be quite happy to wear the striped shirt from that era, today, even if it meant The Club not gaining income from a 'new' shirt design. Still, we should be able to sell our club to the USA 'Soccer' Market. Call ourselves Southampton Red Backs. Could go down a storm over there😂 |
| News Comment | Saints Striker Could Be Banned For Striking at 12:40:49
No Loss. A wasted Substitution in my view. One Game he came on recently. He ran around for 10 minutes or so, contributing absolutely nothing. We must utilise our experienced |
| News Comment | Can Southampton Expect Any Help from Elsewhere This Weekend at 15:17:08
Please just get our heads around the fact that we will not be Promoted in the top 2. We WILL make The Playoffs, a magnificent achievement, given the disaster of last Season. To be in The Playoffs with 80+ points, is worth celebrating. Forget what could have been if we'd won more points. That Ship has sailed. Stay Fit. We are definitely a Top 3 Side. The Playoffs are a completely different game experience to the normal League Fixtures. 80% possession won't necessarily win you the game, but an attacking determination to do or die, more than likely wins the games. Draw on the experience of Players who've progressed through the Play Offs. We are more than capable of progressing. For our financial future we need to be back in The Premier League. Should we achieve promotion in the first year following relegation, that would be a magnificent achievement, and the Players and RM would deserve much praise. I hope we play WBA in the first games, then, I hope it's Ipswich or Norwich in the Final. We can do this. It's no good saying if RM had made different decisions we should've, could've got more points. If my Aunt Freda had Balls, she'd be my Uncle Fred. Good Luck to the Team in The Play offs. |
| News Comment | Southampton Fans Have To Turn Toxic Situation Into A Positive For Wolves Game at 11:46:35
Well said Nick. THE Result is far more important to us than 'fighting' a battle against Jones. Any sort of WIN against one of our 'Bogey Sides' at St. Mary's, would be very gratefully received. It would give all of us a lift, and hope that we can stay up this season. Good Luck to the Team on Saturday. |
| News Comment | Would Saints Fans Welcome Ronald Koeman Back ? at 15:41:52
Pintsizedsaint - The Epistle to the Apostle, that😄 Good Read, nonetheless. My view on Koeman is that getting him back is a ‘No Brainer’. We will be Relegated if we retain Pellegrino as Manager. Les, and the Club Spin On Koeman’s departure was not flattering to him. I was sorry to see him go. I was more than comfortable with his two years in the ‘Hot Seat’. I felt that he was the right Man for our Club. The Two disasters that followed him have been so disappointing. The Club should get him and his backup ‘Team’ NOW, whilst there’s still time to Save Our Season |
| News Comment | Liverpool Back In For Van Dijk But Will Klopp Still Be There ? at 13:20:10
Nick, you’ve been ‘Brainwashed’ I see. In order for a Club to acquire the services of another Club’s Player, they have to first put in a BID for him. The Club receiving a Bid can either accept or reject such a Bid. Liverpool, ‘Back In’ for VVD, is an incorrect statement. NO CLUB, INCLUDING LIVERPOOL, HAVE TO DATE MADE A BID FOR VVD. Our Club have not had to make any decision as to the possibility of VVD moving out. Liverpool have issued a Statement stating that they have ended interest in VVD. Roll on February. |
| News Comment | Saints Fans Want To See Full Side Out In Prague at 11:29:26
Disappointingly, Mr Puel tinkered with the side to face Inter, last time out. It made the task of beating them much more difficult. Luckily, we won in the end. Fonte and Tadic aren't even in the Squad, ( Yes I know Tadic has a busted Face ), though I read the excuse that Fonte has a foot injury. Seeing as he hasn't played in the UEL at all, there is no doubt that Mr Puel will put out a weakened Side again. If fit, Bertrand must start, along with Cedric. If we win tonight, we could be on our way to qualifying for the next stage. |
| News Comment | Saints V Inter Milan The Preview at 20:07:48
"Im all in favour of the squad rotation policy, but sometimes you just need to play your strongest team and tonight is one of those occasions" Well that was wishful thinking then, Nick. |
| News Comment | Watt View - Puel's Rotation Justified at 17:49:49
Rotate for the Cup & Europa League Games, BUT ALWAYS play strongest side in Premier League Games. Retaining our position in the Premier League should be the Club's number 1 Priority. We've already dropped 4 points to Watford and Sunderland, and made hard work at beating Swansea yesterday. Ironically, we profess to aim for European Qualification each Season, and then put out Resrve Sides in the very Competitions that we are likely to have a chance in Qualifying. For us, we have little or no chance of a Top 6 finish in the Premier League. The Game against Palace is likely to be between 2 Reserve Sides. Let's hope our Reserves are better than Palace's. Nathan Redmond, a fine young Player, is NOT a Striker. When we brought on a Striker yesterday, he scores and we win the Game. Mr Puel seems more pleased at keeping 'clean sheets', rather than scoring Goals to actually win Games. 1 Goal a Game is not good enough. We've only scored 4 Goals in 5 league Games, hence we are in the Lower League Pack, currently 14th. I thought Ramirez was known as the 'Tinkerman' - 'Dilly Ding, Dilly Dong' |

| News Comment | Sparta Will Be No Pushover at 12:38:17
I am not 'dismissing' Sparta Prague. I am expecting a very good Team, one that utilises Players to the benefit of the Team, playing a system they're comfortable with. They do have more experience in European Competitions. Given our start to the Season, coupled with the lack of Goal threat, we could be in receipt of a footballing lesson from 'Johnny Foreigner' tonight. I hope not, and Ihope that we have a fruitful Europa Lge. Campaign. |
| News Comment | St Mary's Return Mooted For Ex Saint at 12:03:31
Don't think he would want to come back. More MONEY at Citeh, and Liverpool. Anyway, he is Sicknote 3 after Gardos, and Austin. Injured more than he is available. Another Talent who left Saints too early, BUT the Money is good. Basically 'Nah, You're Alright' in respect of Oxo |
| News Comment | Wanyama To Miss Next Five Games at 12:56:43
It will be the Media that carries on fuelling speculation about Wanyama. In truth, none of the Big Clubs, or Spurs, will want to take a chance with him. He will end up staying with us. You just watch. |
| News Comment | Spurs Looking For A Cheap Option Swap Deal For Wanyama at 13:42:38
'That Bloke that we used to know' is doing rather well at Spurs. The way the top teams in the League are underperforming, as much as it hurts to say so, Spurs are 'Dark Horses' for the Title. The injury to Vertonghen might rock the boat though, but I think Top 4 at minimum is there for the taking. Personally, I loathe Levy, and the way Spurs conduct their business. I'm hoping that he/they fall flat on their faces in their new ground project. I see that Levy has just mugged off Newcastle for £12m for Townsend, but that won't stop him unsettling players from other Clubs. We, as a Club, should have NO dealings with Spurs in any shape or form. They are the Pariahs of the Premier League. |
