…because they didn’t make play offs. Absolutely mental. They’ll surely fall away after that. Smacks of overestimating themselves. Rosenior was one of the three manager of the season nominees. Mental |
| Forum Thread | What could happen this week? at 17:31 28 Aug 2023
I know the messages coming from the club via GA are that no further business will happen, but with Premier League squads being (panic) refined as a few crumbs falling off the table for skint Championship clubs to pick on, surely there might be a couple of surprises this week? A striker, hopefully; and the whereabouts of Tim Iroegnebum (sp.) has been deafeningly silent so far this window so unless I missed him going somewhere I wonder if there’s a chance he might come back again. A midfield trio of Tim + Field + Colback would be decent. |
| Forum Thread | Happy New Year Clive...and thank you at 19:56 31 Dec 2021
Long time lurker, post less often now. But CLIVE - I want you to know how valued you and your writing is. You sink a lot of time and thought and effort and hard work into Loft For Words and I know how highly everyone thinks of you. I look forward to your prose before and after every game - and it either helps soften the lows or enjoy the highs. THANK YOU |

Danny Drinkwater. The scum swallow the vast proportion of his wages. Season-long loan. Had a troubled past two seasons. To give steel in the middle, experience, and might want to prove himself all over again. [Post edited 10 Sep 2020 16:08]

Posted on BBC - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51715512 Contribution from Chief, re: a former team mate effectively getting "bantz" from younger teammates, seemingly in the detatched-from-reality, dickhead mould. Who is he referring to? Richard Dunne? Mattieu Smith? Makes me respect those honest pro's all the more. Good geezers. |
| Forum Thread | Teams we owe severe beatings at 16:49 6 Jan 2019
Dirty Lids have for a long while felt like a bit of a bogey club for us. Today reminded me of the time Ollie was taken ill on the morning of a game up there, and they trounced us 6-1 or something. I love that we beat them today, but I want us to give them a good thrashing sometime. Other teams we similarly owe a heavy beating to. West Brom (obviously). Newcastle (beginning of the end of JFH). Chelscum. Fulham. Hull (we still owe them big time for their classless fans singing about London bombings). Swansea (for the first game back in the premier league. Bolton (for the first game back the following season). Annoyingly there are rather a lot of thrashings we need to dish out. We’re not so good at thrashing. Who else? |

Great band. "Brutalism" = superb album. Magnificent vitality, anger, energy, dischord. Start by playing "Mother" at volume 11. AVE IT |

I'm sick of the predictable, pathetic, spineless away form of Rangers. Arry's "bonus games". Last season's "a win away, a win away..." song. This season - same again. Year after year after year after year. Fvck off. |
| Forum Thread | Union + League at 14:30 1 Oct 2017
First of all, I'm a football but first and foremost. But, some might recall, I have been 'appreciating' rugby the more time passes, the more money turns football and footballers into w@nkers, the more that simulation and a lack of sportsmanship pervades our game (money, again, making the stakes ludicrously high), and the awful standards of officiating the game (both human and technology). It started about 6 years ago with the 6 Nations. The absolutely pure competitive nature of the games. This is Rugby Union. Then I found that any international games were enthralling. My interest doesn't filter down into the club game particularly (yet). And my interest hadn't transferred to Rugby League either. Its different. And I still wouldn't say I watch Union understanding EVERY play or EVERY referee decision. And Rugby League is "the far more northern" one. (And I know, CLIVE, that I'm on your forum seemingly belittling your other love). It's just all the teams were odd northern towns I'd never been to, often seemingly from within about a 20 miles radius of each other - making up half a division (St Helens, Warrington, Castleford, Keighley, Widnes etc etc). I was intrigued - the attendances were always good; Sky deem it fit for coverage season after season - but I couldn't quite 'get' this 5 play thing in the rules that didn't seem to reward good possession. BUT NOW I GET IT. I watched the two Grand Final semi games - and they were engrossing. Enthralling. End to end, genuine excitement, proper tough competitors, well officiated. No pathetic cheating. No faking injury. Big excited crowds. Really good entertainment. |

My debut bow in starting one. And I'm going to go Barnsley 1 - 3 QPR. Sylla, Smith and Freeman (in no particular order). So there. |

Danny Rose, mouthing off about not being paid enough/getting the recognition he deserves (er, he is first choice Left Back for the runners up....when he's FIT..and he's a bit of a sicknote). Philipe Coutinho throwing a strop and trying to force a move from a club where HE chose to sign a (no doubt extremely lucrative) contract until 2022. He's effectively their star player. The team is built around him. Two examples of why the game I have loved all my life continues to pi55 me off more and more. And why I really enjoy watching (top level) Rugby these days. Big competitive barsterds, COMPETING, not cheating, not throwing their toys out of the pram, not sulking. |
| Forum Thread | Women's footballl at 21:25 13 Jul 2017
Well, it is definitely in the public eye now. Women's Football (WF) news on the major news providers' websites - transfer news, results, etc. On TV. Also, other sports - all getting high profile coverage. women's cricket series. Women's boxing. Women's rugby. Now then. Inflammatory comment coming so i accept that some may complain and/or be offended. But come on. I love football. And I love women. But women's football?? Fokdat |
