Should we just breach FFP?
at 13:07 30 Jul 2023

Haven’t posted for ages, but feels like the clubs at a real crossroads now - so honest question, should we just accept we need to breach FFP and strengthen the squad to give us a chance of staying up?

It’s clear we don’t have the ability/nous/connections/a plan to uncover bargains, lower league gems, loans, cheap veteran players to fill a specific role needed to create a squad to compete for survival within FFP.

We don’t have a championship calibre team, let alone a squad currently.

So should we just accept likely relegation and an FFP reset next season, at the risk of free falling down the leagues and spending years in limbo?

Or try and stay up, breach FFP and try and deal with the future transfer embargo’s and financial pain in the future.

No good answers really, but I do half think just breaching FFP like a pretty fair chunk of championship clubs so might not be that bad compared to what we are going through to stay compliant?

Hopefully that will be enough to encourage Holloway to look at his other options for RB!

Think i saw a different game - you do know we had 10 men right?

Good effort at the end, entirely down to Holloway exhorting the players on IMO

Can't expect much more when playing 60+ mins with 10 men. I thought we were moving the ball better but still don't look very dangerous around the box - will take Olly a while to get them better at that.

Smithies was superb too.

Probably but a few positives to take out of this one i think - the red card was always likely to decide the game.

Evens out the blatant pen we didn't get for the foul on Yeni and the possible one we didn't get for the handball...

He cost them £7m so he should be good!

Oops that's the end of that!

Ah well, hopefully Holloway's learnt enough about Perch to get Furlong back!

It was always going to be tough with 10 against Wolves pacey wide players.

At least we've been positive since the red card and Holloway is still making changes to try and get something (although Henry...)

We've played pretty well after the sending off here.

Perch sending off was a bit soft, but this ref is blowing up everything so he should have known better.

I think every single corner has been given as a free kick!

I think we'd let Smithies go if someone came in with a suitable bid - Ingram seems like a more than acceptable replacement.

Chery i don't think they'll sell, both because they've made quite a PR point about him being the main man but also because he's not really done enough to attract attention from bigger clubs.

I think his 'most chances created' stat likely includes a lot of short sideways passes to someone who has then had a wild potshot from 30 yards...

Southgate....
at 10:32 1 Dec 2016

It's the perfect match between Manager and team really (but not in a good way):

Both fairly young and with a record of underachieving.

Both pretty dull to watch/listen too.

Both freeze under pressure at big tournaments/moment.

I have nothing against Southgate and wish him well - but it's a thankless task because the FA are simply unable/unwilling to tackle the major issues with our domestic game, players development, coaching etc

Hopefully all Wolves random Portuguese players won't fancy it on a bitterly cold night!

Is he trying to say the ref guessed because he had an obstructed view - if so it was a damn good guess as that was one of the most blatant red card/hand ball offences i've ever seen...

What do you expect though - it was a game between a 'team that matter' versus a 'team that doesn't matter'?

That's how Sky have been presenting the prem for years!

Just not knowing what team will be picked, in what formation, how we'll approach the game etc makes it infinitely more interesting!

Win, lose or draw - if the team go for it and are positive then i think most will be happy.

A dull 0-0 without a shot on target in a 4-5-1 formation (or a 'Hasselbaink') would be the only atmosphere killer for me - but even then at least you can look forward to the post match comments and hope for improvement.

QPR speak to Holloway (WLS)
at 16:14 10 Nov 2016

The good thing about Holloway is he always seems to learn from each job and he's shown he's willing to change his approach to get results.

He bounced back after the Leicester debacle, let's hope we can benefit from his return after the Millwall spell went badly wrong.

Just realised that the 5 game unbeaten run which ended against Brentford was our best spell of form under JFH!

And we were terrible for most of that...

Wow, i might have to take a bit of a break from QPR if this rumour is true!

Can't stand Sherwood as a man, he's a poor manager with a poor track record too.

Would speak very badly of Les too IMO - it's either a case of 'jobs for the boys' or it demonstrates the fact he doesn't have a clue about how to select a manager for the short or long term of the club. Neither very encouraging.

I'd rather bumble through the season with Hasselbaink and then reassess in May.
