| Forum Thread | Should we just breach FFP? at 13:07 30 Jul 2023
Haven’t posted for ages, but feels like the clubs at a real crossroads now - so honest question, should we just accept we need to breach FFP and strengthen the squad to give us a chance of staying up? It’s clear we don’t have the ability/nous/connections/a plan to uncover bargains, lower league gems, loans, cheap veteran players to fill a specific role needed to create a squad to compete for survival within FFP. We don’t have a championship calibre team, let alone a squad currently. So should we just accept likely relegation and an FFP reset next season, at the risk of free falling down the leagues and spending years in limbo? Or try and stay up, breach FFP and try and deal with the future transfer embargo’s and financial pain in the future. No good answers really, but I do half think just breaching FFP like a pretty fair chunk of championship clubs so might not be that bad compared to what we are going through to stay compliant? |
| Forum Thread | This FFP fine, is it ever going to happen? at 10:27 31 Oct 2016
It's been hanging over us for so long, but it never gets mentioned anymore? Just curious really as the club seems to be in a bit of a malaise in general. The football is stale and boring but we probably won't go down, which seems to be acceptable to the powers that be. JFH isn't showing any signs of developing a plan or improving, but having backed him after the half-hearted Telegraph sting he seems like he'll get the season. It's all just a bit 'meh' really. |
| Forum Thread | Where's Austin? at 11:18 29 Dec 2015
Any word on Charlie's injury (what is it, how long etc)? I've literally not heard a peep about him in the press or club statements since the Brighton game other than a brief mention of a training injury prior to Bristol City? I'm starting to think we've agreed to sell him to someone and have wrapped him in cotton wool until January 1st - am I being a conspiracy theorist or is this a bit odd? |
| Forum Thread | Are we the top spenders in the Championship? at 12:43 14 Aug 2015
Just glancing around the transfers Championship this summer and i noticed we must be the top spender in terms of outlay (although obviously we've recouped a fair bit with Sterling, McCarthy and Caulker). We must have spent around £10-11m if we assume Ream is joining us. As far as i can see Sheffield Weds, Hull, Boro, Derby and Burnley have all spend around £5-6m but nobody any higher. Amazing the money sloshing around the lower half of the prem in comparison. |
