| Forum Reply | The 2016 Assembly Elections: Which way will you be voting & why? at 19:40 11 May 2016
Plaid hasn't done a deal with anyone. They told Carwyn Jones yesterday that they'd be proposing Leanne for First Minister because Labour refused to discuss any cooperation with Plaid for the term of this Assembly, although they have no majority. The Tories and UKIP decided independently to support Leanne to show Labour that they can't just take other parties for granted. A shot across Labour's bows. Labour has chosen to govern as a minority government. That's their right, but they have to accept the risks, too, in a multi-party democracy. |

Plaid haven't done any deal with the Tories or UKIP. They simply nominated their party leader for the First Minister's post. It was expected that the other would do the same, but the Tories and UKIP decided independently to support Leanne. It shows Labour that with no overall majority they can't just take the other parties for granted. But I don't believe that Plaid would want to form a government, although they now possibly could, which depended on UKIP support. |
| Forum Reply | Things to think about for next season at 20:15 3 May 2014
At present we have too many Championship quality players in our squad. For next season, whoever is the manager, we need a new goalkeeper, right back, two energetic defensive midfielders who can also get in the opposing box, a winger with real pace and another striker who can score goals at Premier League level. At centre back, Amat has developed over the season and hopefully Bartley could emerge in pre-season as another Caulker, maybe better. Chico can still give the team a lot of energy and aggression but must discipline himself or be sidelined. At left back Ben was very good until Christmas but dropped off in 2014, perhaps because of fatigue. Shelvey's inconsistency is frustrating, but he's a match-winner that I'd always include. And don't sell Boney, not for £30 million! |

Thanks for the review, Sgoriofruit. To answer your queries, Neath FC don't exist now after their financial collapse, while Llanelli have played in the Welsh League Div 3. I've enjoyed following the Welsh Prem this season and watched about a dozen games at Afan Lido and Port Talbot when Swans weren't playing. Welsh Prem standard has improved a lot over the last 4-5 seasons. The danger is that it's becoming more of a North Wales league where clubs have some rich backers and experienced players from English non-league are easily available to them. Although clubs like Bangor and New Saints have excellent academies, too. Pity more clubs in South Wales don't have the ambition to apply for a Welsh Prem licence. |
| Forum Reply | Monk , another Cusack ? at 12:48 3 Mar 2014
Since Monk took over we have lost just one league game in four, and that by a single goal at Anfield. That's pretty good. If we keep that average of 1.25 points per game we will stay up. Against Palace the team was exhausted in the second half from the exertions of three big games against Liverpool and Napoli. Even Spurs have played two poor matches following their EL games against Dnipro. Can't blame Monk for that, or for the defensive shambles that led to the penalty when Amat could have hoofed the ball out of play. No blame to Monk either for the substitutions - Ash was sick, Pablo injured and Bony just shattered. I would have put Emnes on instead of Lita, but I assume that Lita has been training well and impressed the managerial team. Remember that Monk doesn't have Michu and Shelvey at present, either. I think he's done a good job so far, but final judgement will come at the season's end. |
