Well that’s the thing with the skates, they’ve always gotta look at the history books to even stay relevant in the footballing world, as when they ever look at the present or future, they just see themselves in the shadows of others! Just makes you wonder of juts how far back they’ll go though, as I wonder if they’ll still be going on about their period of success a century ago, in a centuries time?… [Post edited 14 Jun 1:13]

Looking at that list, it looks like the cherries will have earnt more points in the prem than the skates next season. Went from being a pretty decent club like a century ago, to not even being making the top 3 for biggest clubs on the south coast these days… |

You say all that but IFAB/The FA dealt with it all pretty well last year, as they introduced the 30 second rule for any players that get treatment, and all match officials were told to be a lot stricter on time wasting and should add on more time, all of which has worked really well last season. As it’s not coincidence that we’ve had more playing time (with the ball in play that is) on average this season than any for quite some time |

Goalie, left back, another centre half (alongside THB/Bednerak), a holding midfielder (hopefully Downes), a creative midfielder/winger (so someone to replace Stu/brooks, although I’d hope it wasn’t brooks as he wasn’t as impressive as some people made out, and would be a perfect fit to have Prowse back for) and another striker |
| Forum Reply | James Ward Prowse Future At West Ham Said To Be Uncertain at 10:03 7 Jun 2024
Ok but Prowse didn’t leave like the others did and also didn’t leave for the money, otherwise he’d of done it ages ago, but rather left to be able to continue to play in the prem and challenge for the England squad (which clearly hasn’t gone as well as he’d hoped it would’ve). As he was professional in how he did it and always has been, as there’s many that would’ve gone into a strop last summer when it wasn’t clear if we would be selling him or not, but Prowse didn’t and continued to play his part, and I’m pretty sure got an assist against Sheffield Wednesday. And with RM tactics he’d be great, as well as with Downes behind him he’d have a lot more freedom to play more of an attacking role which he’s been proven to of been best at. And for all of those going on about taking steps towards and not back etc… there’s many top players that left clubs they were respected at, just to try and push for things they were struggling to get at their previous ones, but once doing so/if it didn’t work, came back to their original ones. As I doubt many Arsenal fans were this moanful when Henry came back to them |

Some did yes, but I’ve always defended him for how he’s been for England as I can’t remember him messing up once in any proper England games, and that’s why I’ve always seen him as a fair selection for the squad. And yeah Konsa has been decent, but does he have that experience or the same presence Maguire did? And Guehi I don’t rate as highly, so would certainly prefer Maguire over him. But still hopefully we can show in the euros that attack is the best form of defence! But anyway from what I’ve heard he’s injured, so that’s why he’s been left out. |
| Forum Reply | Palace ready to be picked off at 21:33 6 Jun 2024
Yeah well similar has happened to Brighton and that’s why I can see them finishing a lot lower next season, and of course it also happened to both us and Leicester hence our relegations. As Palace are almost a certainty to loose manny of their star players, as unless you’re one of those “top 6” teams, or the wannabe ones like West Ham, Villa and Newcastle, you just can’t keep hold of that many star players and basically sums up many of the problems with modern day football and everything that’s ruining it. |
| Forum Reply | England at 21:30 6 Jun 2024
Yeah well that’s exactly why I was cautious about dropping Maguire. As we’ve got Stones yeah, but we need another decent centre half to be with him, and it’s not like we’ve got Terry or Ferdinand anymore, so as much as Maguire hasn’t been the best for Man U, he’s never really cocked up for England and like Pickford has proven Southgates faith in them worthwhile. As Stones and Maguire I think would’ve been our best pairing, and the fact that Maguire won’t even be on the bench is where I’m cautious as I do wonder as to who will be our other main centre half for this Euros… |

But in all fairness to VAR, yes there’s many times it didn’t end to get involved and has come to he wrong conclusion etc… but it’s not been very rare that VAR got involved in what was originally the correct decision, to make it the incorrect one. As the issues been rather getting involved when it didn’t need to/not coming to the right conclusions when used, but it still has improved the overall number of correct decisions to non correct decisions because it’s very rarely got involved in an already correct decision to make it an incorrect one, so that alone has been an improvement. But still VAR’s hee for the long run and was never gonna be perfect within a few seasons and won’t be for a few more. But as each season goes they just need to make it better for both the players and the fans, and hopefully some of what they’re doing next season (so like showing the decisions to us on the screen and the officials announcing what they’ve given) should hopefully be a step in the right direction. |

Yep, us Leicester and Ipswich's well as all of last seasons surviving teams. And from what I’ve heard the vote ended 19-1 in favour of keeping it. 19 guesses at who that one team was |
| Forum Reply | Man City Launch Legal Battle at 13:52 5 Jun 2024
Yeah, been reading all about this and have even heard that if Man City get their way then they won’t play them and are refusing to do so until they’re dealt with once and for all, for both them wanting to change the rules as well as all the blatant cheating they’ve done. But I’m fairly certain that if City were kicked out, then that ESL would almost certainly start, especially with PSG loosing all their star players, and both Barca and Madrid probably getting bored of it over there. Just gotta hope that if they do all bugger off to this super league, and whoever takes charge of restoring the English footballing ladder, does a much better job and keeps it competitive like it once was! |

Yeah well I won’t there for a league game and have never experienced an atmosphere like that before! As that yellow wall sure was something else, and is exactly why I wasn’t surprised one bit with how great those Dortmund fans were at Wembley. But still can’t lie but the city itself is quite boring though, so I’d only recommend going for a day or so, as outside of the stadium it’s only the German national footballing museum (which has some interesting exhibits, from an England one to a referee on). |
| Forum Reply | Transfer rumours at 13:32 5 Jun 2024
Tbh if it meant that we could spend more of the money on getting Downes in as well as ssome more midfielders, attackers and a goalie, then yeah I’d be up for taking him |

I think I’ve been to 32 of each teams current grounds, as well as 2 former grounds. But also had some great visits to Wembley, Camp Nou, San Siro and the Westfalenstadion. |

Well I wish him all the best but tbh I think this may be the best for both saints and him. But still I’m sure he’ll always be welcome back at St Mary’s, especially with all the work and performances he’s put in for the club, from scoring his first goal for us against Fulham (which I’m pretty sure he got a brace against that game) to his most recent one against Preston, but not forgetting his most memorable one when he scored against Newcastle to send us top of the premier league! Sure wouldn’t mind getting in another younger player like him [Post edited 4 Jun 20:41]

Well I thought we were picking the ones we actually saw play ourselves? As yeah I sure would’ve loved to have seen him play, but seeing how I’m not over 40, unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity to do so |

But ain’t swearing and all that kinda what’s part of the game and to be expected when you go to them? As I don’t know many people who didn’t learn most of the swear words and such at football games, as there sure ain’t many songs without them. As I’m not saying you’ve gotta swear to be a proper fan or such, but unless it’s words that are worse than your typical f bomb, then it’s not something you can exactly have a go at people for shouting when at professional top level games |

You sitting next to him by any chance also in fancy dress? As I’d of though you’d of gone as Voldemort, as it would’ve saved you the hassle of getting any wigs… |
