It may be a panicked change of tack but with the January transfer embargo we have limited options available to us this season if we want to improve the squad.
We seemed to want to do things right in the summer but weren't able to offer the wages necessary to attract experienced quality players. Everyone we were linked with seemed to end up somewhere else on more money, whether that is just agent talk or whether we were ever likely to sign these players I don't know. But for example if you identify a handful of good affordable center backs and you can't sign any for a variety of reasons, is it better to buy someone who you don't really want permanently or loan someone temporarily until you can get the right player in at the right price?
So I'm optimistic and hoping it's a temporary change due to exceptional circumstances and the logic is that signing the right player on loan works out cheaper than getting the wrong player in permanently then having them tied to the club for 3 years. |

Sounds like a good signing. We have Diakite as our "typical number five sweeping and kicking everything that moves" and Faurlin as our "number six organizing the set up" and now we have a number 8. 4-2-3-1 it is then. |

Great article summing up the madness of the deadline day a feeling probably shared by supporters from all teams.
It's really not on that they can suggest the deal is done when it's not. I don't care if Harry was trying his hardest, if that was the case, that should be the headline not one thats trying to suggest it's done and dusted. Add betting into the mix and I guess someones making money out of bad reporting, but personally I take it all with a pinch of salt until confirmed out of the official (even if it takes longer). |
