I have noticed Steve likes the term need to get back to basics. We have 11 games left and we still need to get back to basics, not sure if it is just me but when talking about professional footballers and the money they are on I expect a bit more than basics. How about saying something like we need to find a winning mentality. |
| Forum Thread | Time Wasting turn Negative into a Positive = Elimination at 13:05 19 Oct 2018
A lot of talk about the frustration of time wasting has been raised and it seems worse this season than most others. I have brought up time keepers before leaving the ref to concentrate on 90 mins then being told what is to be played. The idea I had for time wasting is to have someone maybe a time keeper with a sheet 1 to 90mins and make note against the time of any deliberate time wasting taking place with reason, then dependant of score at the end of 90 minutes give the manager the call if he wants to play it or finish the game. Obviously this descion would be made dependant of the score Eg. if losing play on unless your gettin tanked and may not want to concede more. 1-1 away you may say finish. If your winning finish game without any time added on for time wasting. I would even suggest exstending the time by 50% so 4mins becomes 6mins with the manager having the option to finish game if they get a goal that gives them a win or draw. It would take a few of the thicker players a while to get used to it but if your team mates are telling you to get on with it because it won’t help, time wasting would become a thing of the past. Just to add;in play time wasting taking ball to the cornor flag stays as it up to you to win ball back. As most games are televised any strong argument about the timekeeper reasons could be looked at by the authorities and action taken against him if found to be wrong. Any other ideas. | Forum Thread | Steve McClarens Interview at 06:28 29 Aug 2018
Just seen the interview and he says how important the international break is where they can work on systems with the new boys and style of play. We know what will happen we will beat Birmingham then after the international break will lose at home to Bolton. |

And firstly would like to say what a gentleman and nice guy he is. I mentioned how good the forever R’S is and would it be possible to give Martyn Busby some recognition. I was at the Fulham game when he broke his leg and didn’t play for us again. At the time he was really coming in to his own and was playing fabulous, as Andy said he heard he was looking a better prospect than Gerry Francis and I agreed, he also said he has been trying to locate him but has had no luck, even asked if I new a contact number which I haven’t. So would anybody know what has happened to Martyn Busby and better still have a contact so Andy could get in touch. |

Will he have the balls to tell Onuoha to stand down from the captaincy as I believe it is what the team is really lacking a leader that can inspire, encourage and get the best out of players that are struggling in a game by knowing what they respond to. If he Keeps him as captain at the beginning of the season my estimate of him will go very much down. I do not believe we have anyone that can fill that roll in the squad and the games I was able to get to it was obvious to me there was no leadership and the back four were not speaking to each other. So words come easy but the million dollar question is who and at what cost to get someone in that can bring on what I think is going to be a young team that will require that experience and guidance. I was watching the Watford V Palace game and noted they played 1min extra time and because there was a corner it went for 1min 25 sec. It took the ball 28 seconds in one instance to come back from the stands and resume play !. Then watching the Newcastle V Chelsea game saw Steve McClaren doing his nut at a player for trotting off the field instead of walking as he wanted to time waste. (Thats ok when it’s against Chelsea.) So as spectators are we getting value for money ? I believe it is time to take the responsibility off the refs and have a time keeper.By this i mean when ever the ball is dead the clock stops e.g throw-ins, corners, Free-kicks (the ref can take an age speaking to players and marking out with his spray),goal kicks, bookings, etc. Im not a facts and figures man but believe you would be surprised at how much time is lost during a game, so much so that it may mean 40mins instead of 45 that would need to be played but at least it would be 40 to 45mins of actual football making these over paid players earn their money and us getting more value for the crazy costs we put up with. Over here with Aussie rules they use it and the clock is seen on the screen stopping and starting. Benefits Ref can concentrate more on game. Kills all the bickering about added time. get to see more football. Possibly will get more goals. Disadvantages May get more injuries, but would need better use of substitutes maybe another one. Need more help with the disadvantages please. |

Do our players warm up before coming on as sub, just thought Doughty looked very slow and off the pace when he came on. Do not see them stretching or running the line.Cant say i have seen it at home either? |
| Forum Thread | Direction and Encouragement at 14:20 27 Aug 2012
having watched the first two games i feel we are really in need of someone that has a brain at the back and can read a game and direct players or give the right encouragement or kick up the arse dependant on what the player responds to. I think back to when we had players like Frank McKlintok - Terry Venerbles who could do just that. I was hoping that Nelsen would be this type of player always talking and organising. (does anybody know what the go is with him not read anything is he injured) I know the response will be the money they are on they should know what they should be doing or Hughes and his side kicks should be calling the shots, but believe me it is great when you have someone on the pitch who can get in someones ear and give the direction. |

Any news on Faulins injury. Also Briatore and Eccelestone have still a lot to answer for Warnkocks dismissal as he did not have any pre-season to bond new players which worked so well the season before. |

Hi all, have always been a reader but thought time to join in. Thought i was one of the few that Hated Chelsea (Hate is a strong word if there is a stronger one i would use it !) My reason goes back more years than i care to remember back to my school days when i would be about the only Rangers supporter there and all my mates were Chelsea fans, so you can imagine the ribbing i would get as we were in the old 3rd division. They were very much the fashionable team with the likes of Osgood,Charlie Cook,Hudson etc. So many years on i still feel the same about them. What reasons do others have, there success or the fans they attract (National Front Element etc ? |
