We’ve been here before when a Manager starts doing weird things with the bench Redknapp Holloway and Warburton all did similar It’s not a great look and as others have said there must be a youngster from the Development squad or even the Under18’s who could sit on the bench get some Match Day experience if nothing else Not good |

So I know right now thing are pretty grim and for us who have been for many years we can dissect the performances of individuals and lament certain things but I was sat there last night thinking it wasn’t all bad and there’s lots of us to be proud of and here’s why. So as the kick offs have been messed about so much this was the first game we could get to this season so myself brother and stepdad were all planning to go along with my 9 year old and my 7 year old nephew who has been a few times. Then my sister said she’d attend her first game in nearly 25 years to have a day out with her boy. Finally my lads best mate whose family are West Ham was also added he has been to a few games before at Southend once at England and got taken to his first West Ham game v Ipswich a few weeks ago. He’s been a bit upset due to some kids at school and his Mum asked if we would take him too. So we arrived around 1:30pm at White City into glorious sunshine and made our way to The Springbok (I know it’s the Queens Tavern now but it’ll always be The Springbok to me) Had a drink £8 for a Madri!!! Anyway we then took the boys to the football bit on South Af road as PBlock Junior and my nephew always do that and the wanted to show the other lad. As we get there Jonathan Varane was signing autographs and posing for pics which they duly had and then they were playing on some of the skills circuits they put on. The 3 of them were doing football tennis when a couple of the development squad lads joined in Alex Aroha and Harry Murphy. Both were brilliant with the boys and for kids of 8/9 to be able to have a kick about with Professional Footballers is something a fan of Man United Chelsea etc can only dream of but they got to do it. After this we went in the ground in the Lower Loft for the match and they all loved Dembele and his goal they all loved Michy as he is a beast and Saito because he’s really fast and tricky They were disappointed to lose but we hung about for a beer in the blue and white after and waited for the crowds to disappear before going round to try and catch some players for autographs and pics They managed to get loads and got signatures on their shirts and in their autograph books. All of the players were great with them and happily posed for pics etc we done this a few times as this is what my lad and Nephew love meeting them only ever been blanked by one player Leon Balogun I’m looking at you! PBlock Junior managed to get Ilias to sign his 10 Chair shirt which he was delighted with. I think they met Walsh Madsen Bennie, Celar, Chair Dunne Fox Cook Saito Frey Santos special mention to Paul Nardi who was holding his young baby and then passed the baby over to a family member so he could sign and have a picture After this it was back to Liverpool St for McDonalds and on the C2C train back to Leigh on Sea My wife picked me Junior and his mate up and took him back to his as my eldest was hanging out there after the girls had done their girlie day. His Mum said she had never seen him so happy after a football match and asked him what was better. His reply was that it was the best one because you were so close to the players and the noise was better and he got to play with professionals and meet real footballers etc etc So while us older fans may say yesterday was sh!t and as a club we are doing lots wrong the club are also doing a lot right, and 3 young lads from Essex had the best day and in a few years they won’t remember the result but they will remember the memories His Mum text my Mrs this morning saying he’s asking when he can go again Keep the faith all COYR’s |

I know he could be a bit of a pain and he had delusions of grandeur BUT The lad was a magician best footballer I have seen live at Rangers from a technical point of view was unbelievable at times Should have made more of his career than he did but the memories….. |

I love Eze but I also appreciate there is competition in his role If anyone can explain what Curtis Jones is doing in the squad that would be helpful |

Do they matter in reality not really I think the cause for concern is the margin of defeat and to who With our new training facility and clubs like the mob from SW6 being completely mental in terms of signing anyone we should be looking to attract players who see us as good way to play 1st team football a stepping stone if you like I don’t have a problem saying stepping stone because we in the past have produced / bought players from lower league who have gone on to better things. As long as we reap some financial reward I’d be happy for that to be our pitch to potential players and parents |

No idea mate but that’s what was put out in or around the WBA game Could be anything as to how he got it I guess Hope he gets back soon as I think we could play some decent football with him Dembele Saito, Andersen, Smyth off the bench etc |

Fair enough mate as I said it’s something I kind of struggle to get into it Usually watch the first half of the Superbowl and that’s about it, went to a game with a mate at Spurs new ground but again just didn’t get into it That said the doc I said about on Netflix for someone like me with no real affiliation I found really interesting definitely worth a watch |

Think they said 6-8 weeks before the WBA game So maybe in contention end of the month early October? |

Mate as I said for me it’s too stop start (my opinion) Didn’t slag it off The ball in football goes back in a lot quicker, yes obviously there’s time wasting which annoys everyone and we would like to see stamped out No need to be obtuse |

American Football not my favourite sport to be honest just find it too stop /start One thing I would say there’s a very good doc on Netflix if you like NFL called Receivers on Netflix Decent watch |

It’s legalized ticket touting and is quite frankly a disgrace I love going to Rangers one of favourite things to do had a season ticket for 15 odd years before I had kids but it’s not a cheap day out by the time I’ve paid for two tickets and train fares I’m in for nearly £80 before beers McDonald’s for P Block Junior etc As others have said everything is getting more expensive but this dynamic pricing is a joke and should be stopped immediately |

Once won about £800 quid off a £2 quid acca it rolled to the Sunday and needed Arsenal to beat Leicester they battered them but couldn’t score but ultimately won 2-0 I think Misses out on £4k off a similar bet as Celtic couldn’t beat Inverness Caley Thistle watched it in some absolute hole of a pub in Woolwich Went to Sligo races with the Mrs as we were over to visit her family She got chatting to the fella over the way from her Aunts about tips etc and honestly you’ve Been em never seen anything like it She was about £250 quid up going into the last race I was running the bets and she told me to do £25 e/w on what appeared to be a 3 legged donkey at 40/1 Go to the bookie trackside ask to place my bets ets and he ors “Ah we’ve got Alfie from Eastenders” All good fun place the bet and the nag only goes and bloody wins went to pick up the winnings “F’in Cockney B@st@td” |

And the winner for Toys out of the Pram is….. Come on it’s one game, disappointing, yes hugely but writing off a 19 year old kid who got an assist and was making if not his first starts one of his first few is ridiculous give the kid a break. He looks to have ability but playing Under 18’s and reserves it’s gonna take him time Writing off a striker who has had hardly a break having played at The Euros, has moved to a new country is bedding in and got no service? Once again give him time. I remember a bloke near me proclaiming Austin would never make it at Rangers as long as he had a hole in his ar$e as he didn’t score in his first few league games. I hope the surgery for that gentleman was successful If I’m 18 months you are correct and indeed he appears to be the b@st@rd love child of Bob Taylor and Adam Czerkas then please come back on and fill your boots |

Firstly Congrats mate As a Parent the hours are lousy the pay is non existent but it is 100% the best job in the world Lots of good advice already posted from me two things Be kind to each other. There will be days when you are both running on empty , you’ve been at work the little un has not settled all day and the Mrs is a bit frazzled etc. Make her a cup of tea, takeover and tell her to go and have a shower have a lie down etc, don’t come in and say why isn’t the dishwasher stacked etc That leads on to my 2nd point, if the house goes to a war zone for a few months while you find your feet, who cares? Rather than scrubbing the kitchen take that cuddle on the settee and just enjoy it those moments come and go too soon. If your friends and family have anything about them they won’t care last nights dinner hasn’t been cleared up Honestly mate you and your Mrs know far more than you realize and I’m sure your little one will be proud to have you guys as her parents You guys will smash it 👍 |

I thought he’d probs get a League One club, Orient or Charlton possibly seems a shame honest pro and hugely likable lad In other news Rafferty Pedder is on trial at Southend and impressed in their 3-1 defeat to Gillingham and is now going on their tour of Ireland |

I have lived in and around Southend for over 30 years, since I was a kid and still live here now The whole thing is a shambles with only one person culpable , Ron Martin. He makes Paladini look like a Saint The whole new stadium thing has been in the offing for over 40 years the previous Chairman Vic Jobson announced he was gonna move the club yonks ago Martin is a property developer and how he has accumulated his wealth is up for discussion shall we say The club did brilliantly last year under Kevin Maher and without the points deduction and embargo would have made the play offs The stadium makes Loftus Road look like the finest stadium in the world basically he took the ground away from the club put it in another company and then charged the club rent The takeover has been ongoing for 8 months or so. A deal seemed to be close and then the council elections came the Tory bloke Cox got voted out and the new guy Cowan came in and ripped up what was proposed as it would have saddled the tax payer big time The consortium have financed the club since agreeing the deal in October and have now said it needs to be done asap, Martin is running out of road but the club is in real danger I’ve been to Southend many times down the years, took my boy to his first ever match there as a warm up to going to Rangers Really hope they can get sorted |
