Fair point, I hadn't looked at it like that.
Again maybe I'm just a pessimist but just don't look at the squad at present and feel realistically that they can go and win something.
I am probably just being a stereotypical naive football fan, as not so many years ago it would have been unthinkable to be be in the position we are, but success is addictive, and would just love to see Saints win something other than the JPT in my lifetime!!! (I was only 4 in 1976, so can't count that!!!)
We just always seem to be within touching distance of something really special, and then fail through what appears to be lack of ambition and playing it safe. I know the club is well run, and financially we are in a better position than ever, but just feel we have to take a chance now and then. Not talking Marquee signings, just get some strength in depth, we just seem to be a couple of injuries or suspensions away from being a side who could struggle in the Prem this season. |

Wouldn't it be nice to go one summer without the upheaval we constantly seem to have to endure? I finish every season in recent years thinking we are really going to push on next season and do something special. With the Europa League qualification I really thought we would add significantly to the squad to cope with the (hopefully) many extra games. As it is, I can only see us finishing mid table, and think we will do bloody well to get out of the Europa group.
Maybe I am a pessimist, and apologies for that, but would just love Saints to really go for it, to try and win something.
Liverpool got to the Europa League final, and in my opinion we were a better team than them last season.
I don't expect much positive today needless to say!!!!
(Come on Saints, prove me wrong, show some ambition) |

Agree about understanding all the sales except Chambers totally, and this really doesn't make sense either. Is Wanyama likely to go the whole season without suspension or injury? Probably not, and argubly Cork was more consistent when he did play last season. I can understand him wanting regular footballl, but in our current position surely better to keep him and then if needs be he goes on a free in the summer, after all I believe £3M is well short of his worth anyway. |
