Well it's gonna be this guy....we are all aware we need a striker...desperately....have gone with 2 defenders and a winger so far...so this time it's a striker...again from my time(my life)being a super hoops fan....loved this guy, didn't appreciate him enough at the time though and looking back he kept us going a bit didn't he!
Dangerous in the air....quick enough....had the instinct.....lazy sluggish look about him but be fooled and pay the price......awful decision to sell him when he again was our top scorer....what's your memories/thoughts all......and Happy New Year
Danny maddix....wow....carrying on from the others I've chosen, from my era as a Rangers fan, this guy always was a favourite. Quick, great leap(the ridiculous amount of headers he won), the smile on the face, the passion and commitment, the desire to defend. A class act for me, I remember him still being here in darker days, wearing that neon yellow away kit with black stripe, Ericsson sponsor dark days. And in those days still being totally up for it, looking head and shoulders above many on the pitch, especially his fellow defenders. Not to mention born on the 11th of October sharing my very own birthday(you know when you were a kid and you looked on the stickers or in the programme to see who in the squad was born on or at least near your birthday and hoped it wasn't someone Shiiite).
I remember just watching games of him winning so many headers, beating bigger men with more 'known' names.
Share them memories on the humble and legendary Danny Maddix.....
OK so same again here, sharing some thoughts, memories and stories on some of the heroes(at least from my time on the earth and opinion as a Rangers fan) Episode 1 was Gino Padula this time around im going with Impey.
Was a huge fan of this guy, I like how he looked a bit different, seemed to not have a neck and was short looking, solid...a character. Fast, direct, invested, strong and quality on the ball and what he did with it. A massively underrated player, maybe not by us but it seemed by other clubs and there fans. He created goals and he scored them and he wasn't afraid of a bit of the nasty stuff, Imps did not shy away. First game I was ever at he was there on the right wing against Notts Forest.
Always looked a threat and wanted to make things happen. Was a part of our last 'great' team that was still here when things began to crumble bit didn't jump ship immediately when I thought he was one of our best assets and the vultures would circle our demise and strike, but he stayed.
So what you got guys? What do you think? Andy Impey wearing number 7 on the wing
We create very very little at the moment but that does bot let a stricker of the hook! You gotta be on your your toes for half chances, follow ups you know all the stuff. Sometimes you gotta just make something happen your self as a forward. Have a run, have a shot, take the bull by its horns, if a defender just waited for the forward to make the decision every time then he's just there to make the numbers up. Want it, want the ball, want to score, want to hit the back of the net. Just doing what's expected is not enough. Call for it, scream for it, DEMAND it! Come on....
Let's have some memories of the forgotten heroes(without someone satin they ain't forgotten mate)Let's share our memories without any digging on thread title or comments, Let's share the love for the ones. Gino Padula...What do you remember?
Personally I remember not rating him at first but then just seeing him as an absolute first name on the team sheet. Sliding tackles a plenty, and a delivery we wouldn't mind now...share your thoughts...
