I was there last night and would confidently say that we more or less controlled the first half and the only reason we weren't ahead at half time was a lack of quality with the final ball (not helped by the terrible pitch). Second half was probably a bit more difficult at times but we certainly deserved to go ahead. Their only sustained period of pressure on us came immediately after the goal but we saw it through and completely deserved the 3 points.

Bit of an odd one really. We mainly controlled the first half but couldn't quite manage to score. Then in the second half, especially after the raft of substitutions, we lost control of the midfield and looked panicky in defence at times. Finally, probably against the run of play at that point, we get the pen and see out the remaining minutes comfortably. We must now go all out on Tuesday night to set out our stall for the play offs.

Anderson has made 24 league appearances, including 15 starts. One goal and no assists. Gordon has 30 appearances, with 12 starts. Two goals and no assists. So I must be missing something about Anderson, including his physicality and off the ball work. Maybe his tracking data is outstanding, but that's only part of the story. It's very subjective, but he consistently fails to impress me, save for glimpses of ability here and there. |

I agree with what you say about the importance of work without the ball. Where I part company with you is because I think Gordon is equally good out of possession. Anderson is always getting knocked off the ball by stronger, more physical opponents. I think Gordon handles that aspect of the game better too. You are definitely right about the Cowleys trusting players they know, but that hasn't stopped some of them from being dropped or sent out on loan. For some reason, that doesn't seem to apply to Anderson. |

Agree. He looks heavy and ponderous. The only thing that gives me pause for thought is that I felt the same way about Taylor at the start of the season and now he is our hero! |

For Slot to argue that fielding a weakened team will pay dividends at the end of the season is frankly laughable. No Liverpool fan will see it like that. To give away the chance of the league and cup double shows a complete lack of understanding, and respect for, the traditions of the English game. The Emperor has no clothes. |

DC said any club "had to be right for Samson". At first, I thought "what could not be right about a move to a Championship club for an ambitious young player"? And then, on reflection, realised there could be a few things - such as the risk of becoming a squad player getting limited game time and then perhaps being loaned out. Or not getting the attention from coaching staff that a developing player needs. I don't think he's anywhere near ready for Championship football. He still needs to prove that he can perform consistently at the current level - and as you say, he's had significant injury problems. With his very physical style of play, he needs to know when to put himself about a bit, and when not to. Perhaps that lack of awareness has led to some of the injuries. Hope to see him back asap to show us what we've been missing. |
